Description
The Golden Compass HD is Golden Technologies' GP620 heavy-duty center-wheel power wheelchair. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The person drives with the 75 Amp joystick.
Golden lists a 450 lb (204 kg) rating, speeds up to 4 mph (6.4 km/h), a 20 inch (51 cm) turning radius, and up to 12 miles (19.3 km) per charge at maximum capacity on the NF-22 pair. The assembled chair weighs 226 lbs (102.5 kg).
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs a 450 lb rating, wants a full-size center-wheel indoor and outdoor chair, and fits an 18 to 24 inch captain seat. Families usually call us when the Compass Sport's 300 lb rating is not enough, or when they want the wider HD captain and the 75 Amp controller.
If you are at or under 300 lbs and want the longer printed range, start with the Golden Compass Sport. If you want a folding travel chair, see the Golden Ally Pro. The Compass HD is not a travel folder.
- Center-wheel drive with a springless articulating chassis
- Captain seats Golden sells from 18 to 24 inches wide
- A 450 lb rating on a 20 inch turning radius
Range, speed, and batteries
The Golden Compass HD travels up to 12 miles (19.3 km) per charge on the standard pair of NF-22 batteries. Golden's sell-sheet footnote sets that figure at maximum weight capacity. Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten the day.
Top speed is up to 4 mph (6.4 km/h). The charger is off-board. The controller is a Dynamic Shark 75 Amp unit. Each NF-22 pack weighs 37 lbs (16.8 kg). These are sealed lead-acid packs, not lithium.
Portability and transport
The Compass HD is a full-size heavy-duty base. Golden's exclusive fold-flat seat hinge lets the captain seat fold down for a van. The chair does not fold like a Cricket or an Ally, and it does not take apart like a LiteRider Envy. The heaviest pieces are the 101 lb (45.8 kg) base, the 51 lb (23.1 kg) seat with arms, and the 37 lb batteries.
The NF-22 packs are not airline-friendly. This is a home-and-community chair, not a flight chair.
Golden Compass HD specifications
These figures are for Golden model GP620, as printed on Golden Canada's SHT-GP620-CAN-0326 sell sheet. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Center drive 10 inches. Casters 6 inches. Flat-free non-marking tires. Center-wheel drive.
Standard captain seat 20 by 20/18 inches, back 19 inches, with headrest 26.5 to 30 inches, black vinyl. Golden also sells 18, 20, 22, and 24 inch widths by 18 or 20 inch depths. Front and rear height-adjustable seat posts. Slide seat bracket. Back angle to 115 degrees. Padded flip-up arm support. Footrest height 3 to 7 inches and angle 0 to 35 degrees. Colours Golden sells are Red and Blue.
Do not mix these numbers with the Compass Sport (300 lb, U1, 24 inch turn, 24 miles).
Warranty on the Canada sell sheet is 5 years on the frame, 13 months on the drive train, 13 months on electronics, and 12 months on the batteries. That 5-year frame term matches Golden Canada's power-chair warranty insert for GP620.
Compass HD or Compass Sport
The Compass HD is Golden's 450 lb, 20 inch-turn center-wheel chair with NF-22 batteries and a 5-year frame term. The Compass Sport is Golden's 300 lb, 24 inch-turn sister with U1 batteries and a lifetime frame term. They share the articulating chassis. Pick HD for the 450 lb rating and the 18 to 24 inch captains. Pick Sport for the lighter daily chair and the longer printed range.
Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this power wheelchair across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, fit the captain seat, and show you the 75 Amp joystick, the freewheel levers, and the charger before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
This power wheelchair is a full-size heavy-duty base. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Golden manufacturer warranty
Golden Canada's Compass HD sell sheet prints 5 years on the frame, 13 months on the drive train, 13 months on electronics, and 12 months on the batteries for the original purchaser. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. Gradual battery wear from storage, cold, or heavy use is outside the battery term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What Is The Weight Capacity?
The Golden Compass HD is rated at 450 lbs (204 kg). Stay at or under that rating. The 300 lb chair in this line is the Compass Sport.
How Far Will The Compass HD Go On One Charge?
The Golden Compass HD travels up to 12 miles (19.3 km) per charge on the NF-22 pair. Golden's sell-sheet footnote sets that figure at maximum weight capacity. Range shortens with hills, cold, and battery condition.

The Golden Compass HD is a center-wheel drive chair. Golden's springless articulating chassis is built to keep all six wheels on the ground over thresholds and mild outdoor surfaces.
What Seat Widths Can I Order?
