Golden lists a 300 lb (136 kg) rating, speeds up to 4 mph (6.4 km/h), a 24 inch (61 cm) turning radius, and up to 24 miles (38.6 km) per charge on the standard U1 pair. Optional 50 Ah batteries raise that figure to 34 miles (54.7 km). The assembled chair weighs 179 lbs (81.2 kg).
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who wants a full-size center-wheel indoor and outdoor chair, fits a 16, 18, 20, or 22 inch captain seat, and stays at or under the 300 lb rating. Families usually call us when a folding travel chair feels too light for daily outdoor use, or when they want Golden's articulating chassis that keeps all six wheels on the ground.

Range, speed, and batteries
The Golden Compass Sport travels up to 24 miles (38.6 km) per charge on the standard pair of U1 batteries. Golden's optional 50 Ah batteries raise that figure to 34 miles (54.7 km). Both printed ranges are at 200 lbs. Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten the day.
Top speed is up to 4 mph (6.4 km/h). The charger is off-board. The controller is a Dynamic LiNX 40 Amp unit with Dynamic Load Compensation. Each U1 pack weighs 22 lbs (10.0 kg). Each 50 Ah pack weighs 30 lbs (13.6 kg). Ask us which battery pair we can put on your order.
Portability and transport
The Compass Sport is a full-size power base. Golden's exclusive fold-flat seat hinge lets the captain seat fold down for a van or a larger trunk. The chair does not fold like a Cricket or an Ally, and it does not take apart like a LiteRider Envy. The heaviest pieces are the 97 lb (44.0 kg) base and the 40 lb (18.1 kg) seat with arms.
The U1 and 50 Ah packs are sealed lead-acid. Golden does not print those packs as airline-friendly. This is a home-and-community chair, not a flight chair.

Standard captain seat 18 by 18/20 inches, back 23 inches, with headrest 30.5 to 34.5 inches, black vinyl. Golden also sells 16, 18, 20, and 22 inch widths by 16, 18, or 20 inch depths. Padded flip-up arm supports. Arms height, width, and angle adjustable. Footrest height 2.5 to 4.5 inches and angle 0 to 10 degrees. Colours Golden sells are Red and Blue.
Do not mix these numbers with the Compass HD (450 lb, NF-22, 20 inch turn, 12 miles at max capacity).
Warranty on the Canada sell sheet is lifetime on the frame, 13 months on the drive train, 13 months on electronics, and 12 months on the batteries. That lifetime frame term matches Golden Canada's power-chair warranty insert for GP605.
Compass Sport or Compass HD
The Compass Sport is Golden's 300 lb, 24 inch-turn center-wheel chair with U1 batteries and a lifetime frame term. The Compass HD is Golden's 450 lb, 20 inch-turn sister with NF-22 batteries and a 5-year frame term. They share the articulating chassis. Pick Sport for the lighter daily chair and the longer printed range. Pick HD for the 450 lb rating and the wider captain seats up to 24 inches.
Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Golden Canada's Compass Sport sell sheet prints a lifetime limited term on the frame, 13 months on the drive train, 13 months on electronics, and 12 months on the batteries for the original purchaser. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. Gradual battery wear from storage, cold, or heavy use is outside the battery term. We handle the warranty claim with you.
