Description
The Golden Ally is Golden Technologies' GP303 folding travel power wheelchair. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The person drives with the joystick or the Smart Control mobile app.
Golden lists a 330 lb (150 kg) rating, speeds up to 4.4 mph (7.1 km/h), a 28.5 inch (72 cm) turning radius, and up to 9 miles (14.5 km) per charge on the 12 AH lithium-ion pack. The assembled chair weighs 56 lbs (25.4 kg). The heaviest piece is 49.5 lbs (22.5 kg).
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who wants a folding travel chair that still feels like a daily power chair, stays at or under the 330 lb rating, and can lift a 49.5 lb piece into a trunk. Families usually call us when a 25 lb carbon cricket feels too light outdoors, and they want pneumatic rear wheels plus a removable memory foam cushion.
If you want omni-directional front wheels and a 13 mile printed range, start with the Golden Ally Pro. If you want power folding and side lighting, see the Golden Ally Sport (265 lb rating). The Ally is not a take-apart Envy.
- A 56 lb assembled fold, heaviest piece 49.5 lbs
- A 330 lb rating on a 28.5 inch turning radius
- A 12 AH lithium pack Golden prints as airline-friendly, with the airline still to confirm
Range, speed, and batteries
The Golden Ally travels up to 9 miles (14.5 km) per charge on the standard 12 AH lithium-ion pack. Golden's footnote says range changes with rider weight, drive surface, terrain, and battery type, and the printed figure is at 200 lbs. The Canada card rounds the same figure to 14.4 km.
Top speed is up to 4.4 mph (7.1 km/h) on the Canada sell sheet. The charger is off-board. The controller is a 40 Amp remote unit, pre-wired for left or right. Golden weighs that pack at 5 lbs (2.3 kg).
Portability and transport
Golden folds the Ally for compact storage and stands it on its side. Assembled weight is 56 lbs (25.4 kg). The heaviest piece is 49.5 lbs (22.5 kg). Rear wheels are 10 inch pneumatic. Front casters are 6 inch solid.
Golden prints the 12 AH lithium pack as airline-friendly and still leaves the flight to the airline. Consult the airline before you fly. Golden does not print a watt-hour figure on this sell sheet, so we do not invent one. The Smart Control app and the optional wireless remote are for parking and positioning, not a substitute for the person in the seat on the road.

Ally, Ally Pro, or Ally Sport
The Ally is Golden's 330 lb, 4.4 mph, 9 mile folding travel chair at 56 lbs assembled. The Ally Pro keeps the 330 lb rating and adds omni-directional front wheels, front suspension, a 13 mile printed range, and a 37 inch turn. The Ally Sport is the 265 lb power-folding luxury trim at 92 lbs assembled. They are separate Golden models. Pick Ally for the lightest 330 lb Ally. Pick Pro for outdoor wheels. Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Golden manufacturer warranty
Golden Canada's Ally sell sheet prints 5 years on the frame, 13 months on the drive train, 13 months on electronics, and 12 months on the batteries for the original purchaser. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. Gradual battery wear from storage, cold, or heavy use is outside the battery term. We handle the warranty claim with you.
