Description
The Golden LiteRider Envy is Golden Technologies' GP162 compact travel power wheelchair. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The person drives with the Dynamic LiNX joystick.
Golden lists a 300 lb (136 kg) rating, speeds up to 3.5 mph (5.6 km/h), a 28.5 inch (72 cm) turning radius, and up to 15.5 miles (24.9 km) per charge on the 22AH pair. It takes apart into four pieces. The heaviest piece is the 37 lb (16.8 kg) front half.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who wants a compact stadium-seat travel chair, stays at or under the 300 lb rating, and can lift a 37 lb piece into a trunk. Families usually call us when they want more printed range than the BuzzAbout, or when they want the tubular LiteRider look and the under-seat basket.
If you want a higher-back captain and motion-sensing LEDs, start with the Golden BuzzAbout GP-164. If you want a chair that folds instead of coming apart, see the Golden Cricket LT. The Envy is not a folding carbon cricket.
- Four-piece disassembly, heaviest piece 37 lbs
- A 17 by 17 inch stadium seat, with optional highback and premium seats
- Up to 15.5 miles (24.9 km) on the 22AH pair
Range, speed, and batteries
The Golden LiteRider Envy travels up to 15.5 miles (24.9 km) per charge on the standard pair of 22AH batteries. Golden's footnote says that figure is at 200 lbs and changes with rider weight, drive surface, terrain, and battery type. The Canada product card rounds the same figure to 25 km.
Top speed is up to 3.5 mph (5.6 km/h). The charger is off-board. The controller is a Dynamic LiNX 40 Amp unit. Golden prints the battery pack at 27 lbs (12.2 kg). These are 22AH sealed packs, not airline lithium.
Portability and transport
The Envy takes apart into four pieces: a 37 lb (16.8 kg) front half, a 36 lb (16.3 kg) rear half, a 23 lb (10.4 kg) seat with arms, and the battery pack. Assembled weight is 123 lbs (55.8 kg). It does not fold like a Cricket or an Ally.
The 22AH packs are not printed as airline-friendly. This is a car-trunk travel chair, not a flight lithium chair.
Golden LiteRider Envy specifications
These figures are for Golden model GP162, as printed on Golden Canada's SHT-GP162-CAN-0326 sell sheet. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Weight capacity 300 lbs (136 kg). Top speed up to 3.5 mph (5.6 km/h). Turning radius 28.5 inches (72 cm). Length 36 inches (91 cm). Width 22.5 inches (57 cm). Height to the top of the back 34 to 35 inches. Seat-to-ground 21.5 to 22.5 inches in two 1 inch steps. Ground clearance 2.5 inches (6.4 cm). Rear drive 9 inches. Casters 6 inches. Anti-tips 3 inches. Flat-free non-marking tires. Rear-wheel drive. Aluminum tubular frame.
Standard stadium seat 17 by 17 inches, back 16 inches, black vinyl. Optional highback 20 by 18 inches. Optional premium 17 by 16 inches with a 17 inch back. Under-seat basket. Height- and angle-adjustable footrest. Canada-card colours are Cherry Red, Paradise Blue, Envy Green, and Satin Silver.
Do not mix these numbers with the BuzzAbout (11 miles, 34 lb heaviest, captain 17 x 16). The Canada product card's 26 inch turn is stale; the sell sheet is 28.5 inches.
Warranty on the Canada sell sheet is 5 years on the frame, 13 months on the drive train, 13 months on electronics, and 12 months on the batteries. That 5-year frame term matches Golden Canada's power-chair warranty insert for GP162.
LiteRider Envy or BuzzAbout
The LiteRider Envy is Golden's compact stadium-seat take-apart chair with a 15.5 mile printed range and a 37 lb heaviest piece. The BuzzAbout GP-164 is Golden's compact captain with motion-sensing LEDs, an 11 mile printed range, and a 34 lb heaviest piece. They are separate Golden models. If you want a fold instead of four pieces, start with the Cricket GP-302 or the Ally.
Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a chair first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased chairs are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
This power wheelchair takes apart for a car trunk. If it is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Golden manufacturer warranty
Golden Canada's LiteRider Envy sell sheet prints 5 years on the frame, 13 months on the drive train, 13 months on electronics, and 12 months on the batteries for the original purchaser. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. Gradual battery wear from storage, cold, or heavy use is outside the battery term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
