The Blake Geo-Matrix G3 is Blake's highest non-powered gel hospital mattress: a 7 inch hybrid with three gel zones, including stacked purple gel under the coccyx. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it on the bed for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The G3 does not use a pump.

Blake's current G3 page states it is for low-maintenance prevention and healing of stage I-IV non-complex pressure injuries (from skin redness to bone-deep wounds). That stage language is Blake's, not ours. If the person needs gel only at the seat, start with the G1 Single Zone. If they need a full gel top for stage I-II care, see the Geo-Matrix G2.

Who this mattress is for

This mattress is for a person whose clinician has asked for a non-powered surface that Blake rates through stage I-IV non-complex pressure injuries, and who should not depend on a pump staying on overnight. It suits home care after a complex hospital stay, long-term care, and anyone who needs deeper gel immersion than the G2.

Families usually call us when a G1 or G2 is not enough immersion, when a powered surface has been ruled out, or when the person has bony contact that needs more than a single gel insert. The G3 is not an alternating-pressure mattress. If the clinician wants air cells that change pressure, ask about the Blake Rhythm Multi.

Construction and how it works

The G3 is a hybrid gel mattress. Blake's current page describes a dual-density polyurethane foam base, a 5 lb memory foam core, a firm foam perimeter, blue mattress gel in the head and coccyx, pillow-top gel in the heel, and two layers of purple gel inside the coccyx. The cover is 4-way stretch, antimicrobial, fluid-proof, and wipeable, with a nylon quilting layer.

Blake's G-series brochure says the G3 carries about 4 1/2 inches of Geo-Matrix gel in that stack so bony areas can immerse into the columns. The columns share load instead of holding a liquid. There is no control unit. Finished height on Blake's G3 page is 7 inches, not 6.

Blake names standard sizes 36, 39, 42, 54, and 60 by 80 inches and says all sizes are available as custom. We also offer 48 by 80 inches on this page. The Size picker on this page still reads 6 inches high. Blake's official height is 7 inches. Order against the official 7 inch figure when you plan side-rail clearance.

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds or mattresses, so plan around other routes.
