Description
The Golden Buzzaround XL Plus is Golden's 4-wheel travel scooter with MicroTurn and a lithium pack. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets the GB152 up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Golden rates it at 325 lbs (147 kg), 4.7 mph (7.6 km/h), and 9.2 miles (14.8 km) at 200 lbs on the standard 12 AH lithium-ion pack. An optional 24 AH pack is listed at 18 miles (29.0 km). The turning radius is 39 inches (99 cm). The heaviest piece is 42.5 lbs (19.3 kg).
Who this scooter is for
This scooter is for a person who wants a 4-wheel travel scooter that turns like a 3-wheel in a 39 inch circle, stays at or under 325 lbs, and prefers a 7 lb lithium pack over a lead-acid pair. Families usually call us when the Buzzaround XL 4-Wheel still feels tight in a hallway, or when they want front and rear suspension on a scooter that comes apart.
If you need to fold the scooter flat, start with the CarryOn or the CarryOn HD. If you want a 300 lb disassembly 4-wheel on 12 AH lead-acid, see the XL 4-Wheel. The XL Plus does not fold.
- 39 inch (99 cm) MicroTurn on a 4-wheel chassis
- 12 AH lithium-ion pack at 7 lbs (3.2 kg), airline-friendly as Golden prints it
- 42.5 lb (19.3 kg) front body, five-piece disassembly
Range, speed, and batteries
Golden's current XL Plus sell sheet rates the GB152 at 9.2 miles (14.8 km) at 200 lbs (91 kg) on the standard 12 AH lithium-ion pack and 18 miles (29.0 km) on the optional 24 AH pack. Top speed is 4.7 mph (7.6 km/h). Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten those figures. The charger is off-board with Golden's EZ Connect magnetic port. Golden asks for 6 to 8 hours after daily use.
The standard pack weighs 7 lbs (3.2 kg). A 50 amp controller and rear-wheel drive move the scooter. Freewheel mode lets a helper push it. USB A and USB C ports on the tiller charge a phone. The colour console shows speed and battery.
Portability and transport
The Buzzaround XL Plus disassembles into five pieces. Golden lists the front body at 42.5 lbs (19.3 kg), the rear at 28 lbs (12.7 kg), the seat at 16 lbs (7.3 kg), and the battery at 7 lbs (3.2 kg). Assembled weight is 97 lbs (44.0 kg). Width is 22 inches (56 cm). It does not fold.
Golden calls the lithium pack airline-friendly. That is still subject to the airline. Confirm the carrier before you book. The owner manual says not to operate or store the scooter in rain, snow, mist, or below-freezing temperatures.

XL, XL Plus, or CarryOn: which travel scooter fits
The XL Plus is the lithium MicroTurn step: 325 lb, 4.7 mph, 39 inch turn, 42.5 lb front body. The XL 4-Wheel is the 300 lb lead-acid travel scooter that comes apart. The CarryOn and CarryOn HD fold instead of coming apart. Pick XL Plus for the 39 inch 4-wheel turn and the 7 lb lithium pack. Pick a CarryOn for the fold. Pick the XL 4-Wheel if you want the current 12 AH lead-acid travel scooter.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Frequently asked questions
How far can a mobility scooter go?
The Golden Buzzaround XL Plus travels up to 9.2 miles (14.8 km) at 200 lbs (91 kg) on the standard 12 AH lithium-ion pack and 18 miles (29.0 km) on the optional 24 AH pack.
How long does a mobility scooter take to charge?
The Buzzaround XL Plus uses an off-board charger with Golden's magnetic EZ Connect port. Golden asks for 6 to 8 hours after daily use.
Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?
The Buzzaround XL Plus uses a removable lithium-ion pack that Golden calls airline-friendly. Confirm the airline's watt-hour and spare-battery rules before you book. The scooter body travels only if that carrier allows a disassembled scooter as checked luggage.
Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?
The Buzzaround XL Plus owner manual says not to operate or store the scooter where it will be exposed to rain, snow, mist, or below-freezing temperatures. It is not an all-weather outdoor scooter.
Does ADP cover scooters?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a power scooter when a long-term need is confirmed through an ADP-registered therapist and an ADP-registered vendor. Westin Healthcare walks that route with you. A scooter bought before those steps is not reimbursed.
What is the difference between a 3-wheel and a 4-wheel scooter?
The Buzzaround XL Plus is a 4-wheel scooter with MicroTurn, so it turns in 39 inches (99 cm) while keeping four wheels on the ground. A 3-wheel Buzzaround such as the XL 3-Wheel turns in 37.5 inches and has one front wheel.
What is MicroTurn on the Buzzaround XL Plus?
MicroTurn is Golden's name for the GB152 steering that gives a 39 inch (99 cm) turning radius on a 4-wheel scooter. Golden prints it as 4-wheel stability with a 3-wheel-class turn.
Does the Buzzaround XL Plus fold?
The Buzzaround XL Plus does not fold. It disassembles into five pieces. Golden's folding scooters are the CarryOn GB120 and the CarryOn HD GB220.
What is the warranty?
The Buzzaround XL Plus carries a lifetime frame term, 2 years on the drive train and electronics, and 1 year on the battery. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
