Description
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel is a full-size portable mobility scooter on a four-wheel chassis. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets the GB148 up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Golden rates it at 350 lbs (159 kg), 5 mph (8.0 km/h), and 18 miles (29.0 km) per charge at 200 lbs on two U1 batteries. The heaviest piece is 53 lbs (24.0 kg). A V-shaped LED running light, comfort spring suspension, and a 54 inch (137 cm) turning radius mark the 4-wheel EX against the 3-wheel GB118.
Who this scooter is for
This scooter is for a person who wants 4-wheel mobility scooter stability outdoors, a 350 lb rating, and an 18 mile U1 pack, and who can accept a 54 inch turn and a 53 lb front half. Families usually call us when a compact XL feels light on broken sidewalks and the rider still needs the scooter to split for the trunk.
If indoor aisles matter more than the extra front wheel, start with the EX 3-Wheel. If you want the quilted high-back and 375 lbs, see the LX 4-Wheel. The XLS HD is the compact 325 lb four-wheel with spring suspension.
- 350 lb (159 kg) rating
- 18 miles (29.0 km) at 200 lbs on two U1 batteries
- 53 lb (24.0 kg) heaviest piece
Range, speed, and batteries
Golden's current EX sell sheet rates the GB148 at up to 18 miles (29.0 km) per charge at 200 lbs (91 kg), and 5 mph (8.0 km/h). That is the same U1 pack as the 3-wheel EX. Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten the printed range. The charger is off-board. Golden asks for a 12 hour first charge, then 6 to 8 hours after daily use.
A 90 amp Dynamic R-Series controller and rear-wheel drive move the EX. Freewheel mode lets a helper push it. Electro-mechanical brakes hold it when you release the throttle.
Portability and transport
The Buzzaround EX 4-wheel comes apart in four steps into six pieces. Golden lists the front half at 53 lbs (24.0 kg), the rear half at 36 lbs (16.3 kg), the seat at 23 lbs (10.4 kg), and each U1 pack at 24 lbs (10.9 kg). Assembled weight is 161 lbs (73.0 kg). Width is 22 inches (56 cm).
It is a portable full-size scooter, not a folding airline scooter. The batteries are sealed U1 units. Golden does not call the EX airline-friendly. A bumper conversion kit can be ordered for vertical storage. A Y-cable and Charge Deck are the factory charging extras.
Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel specifications

Colour
Use Choose Color to pick Velvet Red or Coastal Blue. Golden also offers optional shroud kits in White, Yellow, Grey, Pink, Green, and Tan. Ask us if you need a colour that is not in Choose Color. Left-hand controls have to be written on the order. Standard tires are solid. Golden's EX sell sheet does not list a pneumatic option.
LT, EX, LX, XL, or XLS: which Buzzaround fits
The 4-wheel EX is the full-size U1 trim with a second front wheel: 350 lbs, 5 mph, 18 miles, 54 inch turn. The EX 3-Wheel keeps those numbers and turns in 40.5 inches. The LX 4-Wheel is the luxury high-back at 375 lbs. The XL 4-Wheel is the compact 300 lb, 12 AH step. The XLS HD is the 325 lb compact with adjustable spring suspension. A 4-wheel tracks straighter outdoors; a 3-wheel is the tighter indoor tool.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Golden manufacturer warranty
Golden's printed EX terms are lifetime limited on the frame, 2 years on the drive train, 2 years on electronics, and 1 year on the batteries. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
How far can a mobility scooter go?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel travels up to 18 miles (29.0 km) per charge at 200 lbs (91 kg) on two U1 batteries. Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten that figure.
How long does a mobility scooter take to charge?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel uses an off-board charger. Golden asks for 12 hours on a new pack, then 6 to 8 hours after daily use, overnight when you can.
Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel uses sealed U1 batteries and is not presented by Golden as an airline scooter. For a flight, start with the Buzzaround CarryOn and still confirm the airline's battery rules.
Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?
The Golden Buzzaround EX owner manual says not to climb a slope covered with snow, ice, salt, cut grass, or wet grass, and the 6 degree incline limit still applies. It is not an all-weather outdoor scooter.
Does ADP cover scooters?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a power scooter when a long-term need is confirmed through an ADP-registered therapist and an ADP-registered vendor. Westin Healthcare walks that route with you. A scooter bought before those steps is not reimbursed.
What is the difference between a 3-wheel and a 4-wheel scooter?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel turns in 54 inches (137 cm) and uses a 53 lb (24.0 kg) front half. The EX 3-wheel turns in 40.5 inches (103 cm) with a 46 lb front half. Capacity, speed, and the 18 mile U1 range stay the same.
How much weight can the Buzzaround EX hold?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel is rated at 350 lbs (159 kg). Stay at or under that figure.
Does the Buzzaround EX come apart for a car?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel disassembles in four steps into six pieces. The heaviest piece is the 53 lb (24.0 kg) front half.
Will it fit through a doorway?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel is 22 inches (56 cm) wide. Measure tight indoor turns against the 54 inch turning radius. If the home is all corners, the 3-wheel EX is the tighter tool.
What is the warranty?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 4-wheel carries a lifetime frame term, 2 years on the drive train and electronics, and 1 year on the batteries. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
