Description
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel is a full-size portable mobility scooter that still comes apart for a car. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets the GB118 up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Golden rates it at 350 lbs (159 kg), 5 mph (8.0 km/h), and 18 miles (29.0 km) per charge at 200 lbs on two U1 batteries. The heaviest piece is 46 lbs (20.9 kg). Comfort spring suspension and LED lighting sit on a 3-wheel chassis with a 40.5 inch (103 cm) turning radius.
Who this scooter is for
This scooter is for a person who wants 3-wheel mobility scooter manners indoors, a 350 lb rating, and a true 18 mile U1 pack, without moving up to a non-portable full-size. Families usually call us when the LT or XL range is too short and the rider still needs the scooter to split for the trunk.
If 300 lbs and a 28 lb front half are enough, start with the Buzzaround LT. If you want the quilted high-back and a 375 lb rating, see the Buzzaround LX 3-Wheel. The four-wheel sibling is the EX 4-Wheel.
- 350 lb (159 kg) rating
- 18 miles (29.0 km) at 200 lbs on two U1 batteries
- 46 lb (20.9 kg) heaviest piece
Range, speed, and batteries
Golden's current EX sell sheet rates the GB118 at up to 18 miles (29.0 km) per charge at 200 lbs (91 kg), and 5 mph (8.0 km/h). That range is the U1 pack working at the printed test weight. Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten it. The charger is off-board. Golden asks for a 12 hour first charge, then 6 to 8 hours after daily use.
A 90 amp Dynamic R-Series controller and rear-wheel drive move the EX. Freewheel mode lets a helper push it. Electro-mechanical brakes hold it when you release the throttle.
Portability and transport
The Buzzaround EX 3-wheel comes apart in four steps into six pieces. Golden lists the front half at 46 lbs (20.9 kg), the rear half at 36 lbs (16.3 kg), the seat at 23 lbs (10.4 kg), and each U1 pack at 24 lbs (10.9 kg). Assembled weight is 154 lbs (69.9 kg). Width is 22 inches (56 cm).
It is a portable full-size scooter, not a folding airline scooter. The batteries are sealed U1 units. Golden does not call the EX airline-friendly. A Y-cable and a battery docking station (Charge Deck) are factory options if you want to charge the packs off the scooter at a second address.

LT, EX, LX, XL, or XLS: which Buzzaround fits
EX is the first full-size step: two U1 batteries, 350 lbs, 5 mph, 18 miles, spring suspension. The LT is lighter and shorter-range. The XL 3-Wheel stays compact at 300 lbs with a 12 AH pack. The LX 3-Wheel adds the quilted high-back and 375 lbs on the same U1 platform. The EX 4-Wheel keeps these numbers and trades the 40.5 inch turn for a 54 inch turn and a 53 lb front half. A 3-wheel is the indoor choice; a 4-wheel is the outdoor-stability choice.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Frequently asked questions
How far can a mobility scooter go?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel travels up to 18 miles (29.0 km) per charge at 200 lbs (91 kg) on two U1 batteries. Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten that figure.
How long does a mobility scooter take to charge?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel uses an off-board charger. Golden asks for 12 hours on a new pack, then 6 to 8 hours after daily use, overnight when you can.
Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel uses sealed U1 batteries and is not presented by Golden as an airline scooter. For a flight, start with the Buzzaround CarryOn and still confirm the airline's battery rules.
Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?
The Golden Buzzaround EX owner manual says not to climb a slope covered with snow, ice, salt, cut grass, or wet grass, and the 6 degree incline limit still applies. It is not an all-weather outdoor scooter.
Does ADP cover scooters?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a power scooter when a long-term need is confirmed through an ADP-registered therapist and an ADP-registered vendor. Westin Healthcare walks that route with you. A scooter bought before those steps is not reimbursed.
What is the difference between a 3-wheel and a 4-wheel scooter?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel turns in 40.5 inches (103 cm). The EX 4-wheel turns in 54 inches (137 cm) and carries a 53 lb front half instead of 46 lb. Capacity, speed, and the 18 mile U1 range stay the same across both EX chassis.
How much weight can the Buzzaround EX hold?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel is rated at 350 lbs (159 kg). Stay at or under that figure.
Does the Buzzaround EX come apart for a car?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel disassembles in four steps into six pieces. The heaviest piece is the 46 lb (20.9 kg) front half.
Will it fit through a doorway?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel is 22 inches (56 cm) wide. A typical interior door is about 32 inches. Measure tight hall turns against the 40.5 inch turning radius.
What is the warranty?
The Golden Buzzaround EX 3-wheel carries a lifetime frame term, 2 years on the drive train and electronics, and 1 year on the batteries. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
