Description
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel is a compact travel scooter on a four-wheel chassis. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets the GB124 up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Golden rates the GB124-STD at 300 lbs (136 kg), 4 mph (6.4 km/h), and 10 miles (16.1 km) per charge at 200 lbs on two 12 AH batteries, or 18 miles (29.0 km) with the optional XR 22 AH pack. The heaviest piece is 37 lbs (16.8 kg). This is the current GB124-STD, not the newer GB150 MicroTurn XL.
Who this scooter is for
This scooter is for a person who wants a 4-wheel travel scooter that still splits for the trunk, can stay at or under 300 lbs, and prefers a second front wheel over the XL 3-wheel's tighter turn. Families usually call us when the LT feels small and a full-size EX is more scooter than the car can take.
If indoor aisles matter more, start with the XL 3-Wheel. For 325 lbs and spring suspension on four wheels, see the XLS HD. For a folding lithium scooter, see the CarryOn.
- 300 lb (136 kg) rating
- 10 miles (16.1 km) on 12 AH, 18 miles (29.0 km) on XR 22 AH, at 200 lbs
- 37 lb (16.8 kg) heaviest piece
Range, speed, and batteries
Golden's current XL sell sheet rates the GB124-STD at up to 10 miles (16.1 km) on the standard two 12 AH batteries, and up to 18 miles (29.0 km) on the XR 22 AH option, both at 200 lbs (91 kg). Top speed is 4 mph (6.4 km/h), not 4.5. Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten those figures. The charger is off-board. Golden asks for a 12 hour first charge, then 6 to 8 hours after daily use.
A 50 amp controller and rear-wheel drive move the XL. Freewheel mode lets a helper push it. A USB port on the wraparound Delta tiller charges a phone.
Portability and transport
The Buzzaround XL 4-wheel comes apart in four steps into five pieces. Golden lists the front half at 37 lbs (16.8 kg), the rear half at 24 lbs (10.9 kg), the seat at 21 lbs (9.5 kg), and the 12 AH pack at 16 lbs (7.3 kg). The XR pack is 30 lbs (13.6 kg). Assembled weight is 98 lbs (44.5 kg). Width is 20 inches (51 cm).
It is a compact travel scooter, not a folding airline scooter. The batteries are sealed 12 AH or 22 AH units. Golden does not call the XL airline-friendly.

LT, EX, LX, XL, or XLS: which Buzzaround fits
The 4-wheel XL is the compact four-wheel step: 300 lbs, 3.5 inch deck, 10 or 18 miles, 45.5 inch turn. The XL 3-Wheel turns in 37.5 inches with a 32 lb front half. The XLS HD is the 325 lb compact with spring suspension. The EX 4-Wheel is the jump to U1 batteries, 350 lbs, and 5 mph. A 4-wheel tracks straighter outdoors; a 3-wheel is the tighter indoor tool.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty
When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a distant parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Golden manufacturer warranty
Golden's printed XL terms are lifetime limited on the frame, 2 years on the drive train, 2 years on electronics, and 1 year on the batteries. Wear items such as tires and shrouds sit outside that term. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
How far can a mobility scooter go?
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel travels up to 10 miles (16.1 km) per charge at 200 lbs (91 kg) on the standard 12 AH pack, or up to 18 miles (29.0 km) on the XR 22 AH pack. Heavier riders, hills, and cold weather shorten those figures.
How long does a mobility scooter take to charge?
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel uses an off-board charger. Golden asks for 12 hours on a new pack, then 6 to 8 hours after daily use, overnight when you can.
Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel uses sealed 12 AH or 22 AH batteries and is not presented by Golden as an airline scooter. For a flight, start with the Buzzaround CarryOn and still confirm the airline's battery rules.
Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?
The Golden Buzzaround XL owner manual says not to climb a slope covered with snow, ice, salt, cut grass, or wet grass, and the 6 degree incline limit still applies. It is not an all-weather outdoor scooter.
Does ADP cover scooters?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a power scooter when a long-term need is confirmed through an ADP-registered therapist and an ADP-registered vendor. Westin Healthcare walks that route with you. A scooter bought before those steps is not reimbursed.
What is the difference between a 3-wheel and a 4-wheel scooter?
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel turns in 45.5 inches (116 cm) and uses a 37 lb (16.8 kg) front half. The XL 3-wheel turns in 37.5 inches (95 cm) with a 32 lb front half. Capacity, speed, and the 10 / 18 mile battery options stay the same.
What is the range of the Buzzaround XL?
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel is rated at 10 miles (16.1 km) on two 12 AH batteries and 18 miles (29.0 km) on the XR 22 AH option, both at 200 lbs.
Can I upgrade the Buzzaround XL battery?
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel accepts Golden's XR 22 AH extended-range pack. The standard scooter ships with 12 AH. Ask us to write the XR pack on the order if you want the longer printed range.
Does the Buzzaround XL fold?
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel does not fold. It disassembles into five pieces. The folding scooter in this line is the CarryOn.
What is the weight capacity?
The Golden Buzzaround XL 4-wheel is rated at 300 lbs (136 kg). Stay at or under that figure. The 325 lb compact in this line is the XLS HD.
