Fusion 4K True Low Air Loss Mattress System

The Fusion 4K is Blake Medical's low air loss pulsation mattress for a 35-inch deck. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Official codes are FUS4K3580-B (35 by 80) and FUS4K3584-B (35 by 84).

Blake lists a 300 lb / 160 kg weight capacity and a 6-inch height. Blake states it is for the prevention and treatment of stage I-IV pressure injuries. The clinician who knows the person's skin still decides if this class is right. This is not the 500 lb Fusion 4K XL.

Who this mattress is for

This mattress is for a lighter person on a 35-inch to 36-inch hospital bed who needs pulsation low air loss and 3.5-inch transfer borders. If the person is near or over 300 lbs, use the Fusion 4K XL or another 500 lb surface instead of stretching this crib.

Construction and how it works

This is a mattress replacement. Eighteen 28-inch by 5-inch denier-covered polyurethane cells sit in a foam crib. The crib makes 3.5-inch side transfer borders and 3-inch foam at the head and base. The crib is covered in disinfectable nylon. A Recovery 5 quilted top cover is breathable, fluid-proof, and anti-microbial.

Pulsation is the active therapy. A microprocessor watches immersion. The 3.5-inch edges are there for transfers. This is a 6-inch system, not the 8-inch XL.

The picker is labelled Choose Mattress Length. The option text currently says 80" WIDTH and 84" WIDTH. Those values are lengths, not widths. The mattress width is 35 inches on both.

How is Fusion 4K different from Fusion 4K XL?

Fusion 4K is 35 by 80 or 84 inches, 6 inches high, and 300 lbs. Fusion 4K XL is 42 or 48 by 80 inches, 8 inches high, and 500 lbs, with Auto Comfort.

Is this an overlay or a replacement?

A 6-inch replacement in a foam crib. The existing mattress comes off.

How do I clean the cover?
