Description
The Drive ZooMe Flex folding scooter is a 4-wheel folding travel scooter from Drive Medical, SKU FLEX. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Drive's Flex sheet rates it at 20.9 km (13 miles), 6.4 km/h (4 mph), and 124.7 kg (275 lb). It folds in one Flex motion. Total weight is 26.6 kg (58.6 lb) excluding the hand control. This is not the key-fob ZooMe Auto-Flex (SKU FLEX-AUTO).
Who this scooter is for
This scooter is for a person who wants a lightweight mobility scooter that folds in one motion, who is at or under 124.7 kg (275 lb), and who can manage a 24.3 kg (53.6 lb) heaviest piece. Families usually call us when a take-apart Scout is too many steps, and when they do not need the Auto-Flex key fob.
If you want the key-fob fold and a 136 kg (300 lb) rating, see the Drive ZooMe Auto-Flex. If you want a take-apart travel scooter with a 16.5 inch seat, see the Drive Scout 3-Wheel Travel Scooter. The Flex is not a 24 km/h recreational scooter.
- 4-wheel folding travel class, 18" wide
- Manual one-motion Flex fold; heaviest piece 24.3 kg (53.6 lb)
- 124.7 kg (275 lb) rating, 20.9 km (13 miles), 26.6 kg (58.6 lb)
Range, speed, and batteries
Drive prints a top speed of 6.4 km/h (4 mph) and an estimated range of 20.9 km (13 miles) on the 25.9V x 10AH lithium pack. The Flex owner manual says speed and range vary with user weight, terrain, battery charge, and condition. Real distance drops in cold weather, on hills, and with an older pack.
The pack weighs 2.3 kg (5 lb) and charges on Drive's 2A off-board charger. Drive's Flex manual says charge 24 hours before first use, charge after each day of daily use, and give an infrequent scooter 10 to 14 hours once a week.
Portability and transport
The lightweight mobility scooter story on the Flex is the one-motion fold, not a five-piece take-apart and not a key fob. Drive lists base weight 24.3 kg (53.6 lb), battery 2.3 kg (5 lb), heaviest piece 24.3 kg (53.6 lb), and total 26.6 kg (58.6 lb) excluding the hand control. Overall size is 37" long, 18" wide, 36" high.
The Flex sheet does not print Drive's "airline safe" line. The pack is still 25.9V x 10AH, about 259 Wh. If the scooter has to fly, tell the airline and the screening officer and follow that carrier's mobility-aid rules. Do not treat the Flex as a no-questions airline scooter.

ZooMe Flex or ZooMe Auto-Flex
The Drive ZooMe Flex is the manual one-motion folder: 124.7 kg (275 lb), 26.6 kg (58.6 lb), 53 inch turn, 2 inch clearance, 16.75" by 15" seat, freewheel no. The Drive ZooMe Auto-Flex is the key-fob folder: 136 kg (300 lb), 27.2 kg (60 lb), 47.2 inch turn, 1.6 inch clearance, 16" by 14" seat, freewheel yes. Same 6.4 km/h (4 mph) speed and the same 20.9 km (13 miles) lithium pack class. Choose Flex if you want the lighter manual fold and the wider seat. Choose Auto-Flex if the fob fold is the point.
If you want a take-apart Scout instead of a fold, see the Drive Scout 4-Wheel Travel Scooter.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased scooters are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

If the scooter is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Can I take a mobility scooter on a cruise?

Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?

Drive's Flex sheet covers batteries for 12 months. How many seasons a pack works depends on charge habits, storage, and use. Follow the Flex manual charge routine.
Does ADP cover scooters?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can fund a power scooter when an ADP-registered therapist assesses a long-term need and the scooter is an approved device. Westin Healthcare walks families through the funding page path. We cannot promise that a specific person or the Flex will be approved.
3 wheel vs 4 wheel scooter?
The Drive ZooMe Flex is a 4-wheel folding travel scooter. A 3-wheel travel scooter in this family is the Drive Scout 3, which takes apart instead of folding and turns in 45.5 inches.
