Description
The Drive ZooMe Auto Flex scooter is a 4-wheel folding travel scooter from Drive Medical, SKU FLEX-AUTO. Westin Healthcare delivers and sets it up for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
Drive's current Auto-Flex card rates it at 20.9 km (13 miles), 6.4 km/h (4 mph), and 136 kg (300 lb). It folds and unfolds in 15 seconds or less with the wireless key fob. The lithium pack is 25.9V x 10AH, about 259 Wh. Drive calls that pack airline safe. Tell the airline before you fly. This is not the manual-fold ZooMe Flex (SKU FLEX).
Who this scooter is for
This scooter is for a person who wants a folding mobility scooter that folds itself, who is at or under 136 kg (300 lb), and who can still manage a 24.9 kg (55 lb) heaviest piece if the fob is not in play. Families usually call us when a take-apart Scout is too many lifts, or when a companion needs the key fob to fold the scooter at the car.
If you want the lighter manual-fold Drive model, see the Drive ZooMe Flex. If you want a take-apart travel scooter with a 16.5 inch seat, see the Drive Scout 4-Wheel Travel Scooter. The Auto-Flex is not a 24 km/h recreational scooter.
- 4-wheel folding travel class, 17" wide
- Key-fob fold in 15 seconds or less; manual release as backup
- 136 kg (300 lb) rating, 20.9 km (13 miles), 27.2 kg (60 lb)
Range, speed, and batteries
Drive prints a top speed of 6.4 km/h (4 mph) and a maximum range of 20.9 km (13 miles) on the 25.9V x 10AH lithium pack. That range is the manufacturer figure for a full charge. Real distance drops with rider weight, cold weather, hills, stop-and-go use, and battery age.
The pack weighs 2.3 kg (5 lb) and charges on Drive's 2A off-board charger. Charge after each day of use. Drive does not print a clock-time to full on the current card.
Portability and transport
The folding mobility scooter story on the Auto-Flex is the key fob: Drive says it folds and unfolds in 15 seconds or less, with secondary manual-release levers and a toggle if you need them. No five-piece take-apart. Drive lists product weight 27.2 kg (60 lb) and heaviest piece 24.9 kg (55 lb). Overall size is 37" long, 17" wide, 33" high. Drive says the compact frame fits a car trunk.
Drive prints "Airline safe lithium battery" for the Auto-Flex. The pack is 25.9V x 10AH, about 259 Wh. That sits under the common 300 Wh mobility-aid lithium cap. Tell the airline before you travel, tell the screening officer, and follow that carrier's rules for a mobility scooter. Do not treat "airline safe" as "no paperwork and no questions".

ZooMe Flex or ZooMe Auto-Flex
The Drive ZooMe Auto-Flex is the key-fob folder: 136 kg (300 lb), 27.2 kg (60 lb), 47.2 inch turn, 1.6 inch clearance, 16" by 14" seat, freewheel yes. The Drive ZooMe Flex is the manual one-motion folder: 124.7 kg (275 lb), 26.6 kg (58.6 lb), 53 inch turn, 2 inch clearance, 16.75" by 15" seat, freewheel no. Same 6.4 km/h (4 mph) speed, same 20.9 km (13 miles) lithium pack class, different fold and different ratings. Choose Auto-Flex if the fob fold is the point. Choose Flex if you want the lighter manual fold and the wider seat.
If you want a take-apart Scout instead of a fold, see the Drive Scout 3-Wheel Travel Scooter.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
