Description
The Evac+Chair Power 800 is a battery-powered evacuation stair chair from Evac+Chair. A trained attendant uses it to move a passenger up or down stairs when the lifts are out, during an emergency, or for daily stair transport in a building. Westin Healthcare supplies it and can show your team how to deploy it for sites in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This is not a joystick power wheelchair and it is not a chair the passenger drives. The attendant opens the folded frame, fits the four-point harness, and walks the stairs on the powered track. If the battery is low, the manufacturer user guide allows non-powered descent.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a workplace, school, clinic, or multi-storey home that needs a planned way to move a person on the stairs when the elevator cannot be used. Facilities teams usually call us when they are writing an evacuation plan, replacing an older manual stair chair, or adding a powered ascent option so smaller attendants are not lifting.
If the person needs a chair they drive themselves on the level, start with a standard power wheelchair. If you need a heavier powered evacuation chair, ask us about the Evac+Chair Power 900. The Power 800 is not a transport wheelchair and it is not an everyday indoor power chair.
- Attendant-operated stair ascent and descent
- Folds for wall storage with the included hooks and dust cover
- Lithium-ion pack the manufacturer lists as a 1.5 hour charge
Design and build
Evac+Chair builds the Power 800 on a high-strength aluminium frame with an adjustable stair track and a lockable rear-wheel pair for level landings. The control panel is single speed, with power on/off plus ascent and descent. The handle height adjusts for deployment and storage. Extra operator handles are there when a second attendant is helping.
The passenger sits with a height-adjustable head cushion and an extra-long quick-release four-point harness. A manual override returns the chair to a non-powered stair chair if power is not available. The official include list is the charger, rechargeable battery, two keys, user guide, headrest, safety straps, photoluminescent wall sign, wall hooks, and dust cover.
The chair folds. Official folded size is 45 inches high, 19.5 inches wide, and 10.6 inches deep, at 66 lbs. That 19.5 inch figure is the folded width of the chair, not a passenger seat width.
Evac+Chair Power 800 specifications
These figures are for the Power 800 as printed on Evac+Chair's current product page, data sheet, and user guide. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Folded height 45 inches. Folded width 19.5 inches. Folded depth 10.6 inches. Chair weight 66 lbs. Lithium-ion battery, manufacturer charge time 1.5 hours. Single-speed control panel. Manual override for non-powered descent. The manufacturer user guide and the 2022 data sheet rate the passenger at 350 lbs. The current product page and 2023 brochure print 440 lbs. We will confirm the rating on the chair you receive before anyone treats one figure as settled.
Do not use a 700 stairs per charge figure. Evac+Chair's printed equivalent is going up and down a 5 storey flight 30 times, not a stair count.
The lifetime warranty used on other Evac+Chair models does not apply to the Power 800. The chair still ships with a manufacturer warranty. Ask us which term is on your order.
Size and what comes with the chair
Use Seat Width only if you need to confirm the single folded-width figure of 19.5 inches. There is one Power 800 size. Passenger fit is set with the harness and head cushion, not with a seat-width menu.
The order includes the charger, battery, keys, user guide, headrest, straps, wall sign, wall hooks, and dust cover listed by Evac+Chair. Ask us about operator training when we deliver.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a power wheelchair?
No. The Power 800 is an attendant-operated evacuation stair chair. The passenger does not drive it with a joystick. A power wheelchair is a different product for everyday indoor and outdoor mobility on the level.
Who operates the Power 800?
A trained attendant. Evac+Chair describes one-person operation, with extra operator handles when a second person is helping. We can walk your team through deployment when we deliver.
Does the passenger need to walk?
No. The passenger sits, is strapped in, and is moved on the track. The chair is for people who cannot use the stairs on their own during an evacuation or a planned stair transfer.
Will it fold for storage?
Yes. Official folded size is 45 by 19.5 by 10.6 inches at 66 lbs. Wall hooks and a dust cover are on the manufacturer include list.
What is the weight capacity?
Evac+Chair currently prints two figures: 350 lbs on the user guide and data sheet, and 440 lbs on the live product page and brochure table. We will confirm the rating on the chair you receive. Stay at or under the figure in the user guide that ships with that chair.
How long does the battery last?
Evac+Chair lists a 1.5 hour charge and an equivalent of up and down a 5 storey flight 30 times. We do not print a 700-stair number. Keep the spare battery charged and use the manual override if power is gone.
Can it still go down stairs if the battery dies?
Yes. The manufacturer user guide says the Power 800 can be used for non-powered descent if the power system is disabled. Practise that method with your team before you need it.
How is this different from a transport wheelchair?
A transport wheelchair has small wheels and is pushed on the level. The Power 800 is built for stairs, folds onto a wall hook, and uses a powered track. It is not a hallway transport chair.
What is the warranty?
A manufacturer warranty is included. The lifetime term used on other Evac+Chair models does not apply to the Power 800. Westin Healthcare processes the claim. Ask us which term is on your order.
Can funding help in Ontario?
Some Ontario routes can help with mobility equipment. Eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Do you offer the heavier Power 900?
Ask us. Evac+Chair lists the Power 900 as the Power 800 specification with a higher passenger rating. The Power 800 is the chair on this order.
