The Invacare Matrx Elite Deep Back 18 x 18 is Invacare and Motion Concepts' 6 in (152 mm) contour wheelchair back support in factory size EDB1818, with Easy Set hardware and a 300 lb (136 kg) rating. Westin Healthcare sells this size and fits it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is the 18 in wide by 18 in high Elite Deep. It is not the 3 in Elite and it is not a PB Deep.
Motion Concepts prints EDB1818 as fits-width 18-19 in (46-48 cm) and fits-length 18 in (46 cm). Other Elite Deep sizes exist at the factory. Westin sells the 18 x 18 here. Ask us if you need a different width or height.
Who this back support is for
This wheelchair back support is for a person who stays at or under 300 lb, whose chair is about 18-19 in between the canes, and who needs a deeper 6 in contour than the standard 3 in Elite. Families usually call us when the trunk needs more midline wrap than a shallow shell gives.

Fit, contour, and hardware
The Invacare Matrx Elite Deep 18 x 18 uses the same Easy Set family as the 3 in Elite. Clamps fit 3/4 in, 7/8 in, and 1 in canes. Pins let the back sit on a chair 1 in narrower or 1 in wider than the model. Depth is 2 in in front of or behind the canes. Angle is a 40 degree range (+/- 20 degrees).
Motion Concepts pre-drills Elite Deep backs 14 in and wider by 14 in and longer for a headrest and includes the adapter plate. This 18 x 18 qualifies.
Foam, cover, and care
The Invacare Matrx Elite Deep uses oversized foam, a movable lumbar pad, and a Meshtex moisture-resistant mesh cover. Care follows the Elite manual: wipe light soil with 0.1% chlorine, rinse, and dry. For a badly soiled cover, remove the foam and machine-wash the cover at 80 C (176 F). Do not machine-wash the foam.

Elite Deep, Elite, or E2 Deep
Westin's Elite Deep here is the 18 x 18. The Matrx Elite is the 3 in PBE. The Matrx E2 Deep 16 x 18 is the newer 6 in series with Ripple Foam in a 16 in width. The Elite TR is the SuperSoft tilt back, not a deep contour.
Foam back support, gel cushions, and air cushions
The Invacare Matrx Elite Deep is a foam wheelchair back support. A gel or air seat cushion is a different product. See the JAY Ion or the ROHO High Profile when the seating therapist is choosing the seat.
Funding help for a wheelchair cushion or back support in Ontario
This cushion or back support is an ADP positioning device category item. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of positioning devices such as cushions and back supports when they are prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist with an eligible mobility device, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every product qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help.
