Description
The Drive Cruiser X4 is Drive Medical's CX416ADDA-SF, CX418ADDA-SF, and CX420ADDA-SF family, sold here in 16, 18, or 20 inch. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It is a self-propel folding wheelchair. The person uses the large rear wheels.
Drive builds the frame from aluminum and carbon steel. Seat depth adjusts from 16 to 18 inches. Arms flip back, come off, and change height. Rear axles are quick-release. Drive lists 33.5 lb or less excluding front riggings, and a 300 lb weight capacity on every width we sell.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who fits 16, 18, or 20 inches, wants a seat depth that can move between 16 and 18 inches, and is within Drive's 300 lb rating. Families usually call us when the Rebel's single 18 by 16 steel seat is too tight or too loose, or when they want hemi-height axle positions.
If 18 by 16 is enough and you want the lighter steel Rebel, start with the Drive Rebel RTLREB18DDA-SF. If you want 22 inch, universal arms, or Drive's 350 lb 22 inch rating, see the Drive Viper Plus GT. The Cruiser X4 is not a transport chair.
- Self-propel daily use in 16, 18, or 20 inch
- A seat depth you can set from 16 to 18 inches
- Triple axle positions at 17, 18, or 19 inches seat to floor
Design and build
The frame is aluminum and carbon steel with a powder-coat and silver-vein finish. Upholstery is flame-retardant nylon. Drive's frame style leaves off seat-rail guides so other backs and accessories can go on. Dual over-centre braces stiffen the fold.
Arms are padded, flip back, and come off. Height from the seat rail adjusts from 10 to 14 inches with a lever at the front. The back height adjusts from 16 to 17.5 inches. Rear wheels are composite mag-style with composite hand rims and polyurethane tires on three-position quick-release axles. Front casters are 8 inch, with three height settings and angle adjust. Wheel locks are push-to-lock.
The chair folds. Drive lists 43 inches long with riggings, 12 inches wide, and 36 inches high folded. Swing-away footrests or elevating leg rests use tool-free length riggings and composite footplates with heel loops. The owner manual says the chair is not approved as a seat in a motor vehicle.
Drive Cruiser X4 Wheelchair specifications
These figures are for Westin SKUs CX416ADDA-SF, CX418ADDA-SF, and CX420ADDA-SF, with elevating leg rests as the other Choose Legrest choice. The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current sheet lists a 300 lb capacity, seat-to-floor heights of 17, 18, and 19 inches, a 16 to 17.5 inch back, a folded size of 43 by 12 by 36 inches, and carton weights of 46, 48, and 50 lb for 16, 18, and 20 inch. Drive prints 33.5 lb or less excluding front riggings for the basic configuration.
Do not mix these numbers with the Rebel. The Rebel is 37 lb, 18 by 16 only, and 19.5 inches seat to floor. Do not mix them with the Viper Plus GT. That chair is all aluminum and goes to 22 inch with a 350 lb rating on that width.
Warranty for the original purchaser is Drive's Lifetime Limited term: defects in materials and workmanship for the life of that purchaser. It does not cover misuse, negligence, or normal wear, and it does not extend to rubber accessories, casters, and grips.
Width, legrest, and accessory options
Use Choose Width to set 16, 18, or 20 inch. That is the choice that changes the Drive SKU among CX416ADDA-SF, CX418ADDA-SF, and CX420ADDA-SF.
Choose Width
- 16" SEAT WIDTH (CX416ADDA-SF)
- 18" SEAT WIDTH (CX418ADDA-SF)
- 20" SEAT WIDTH (CX420ADDA-SF)
Use Choose Legrest to set swing-away or elevating. Drive catalogs both as factory Cruiser X4 codes (ADDA-SF or ADDA-ELR) on desk-length arms. Seat depth is not a separate width choice. On the chair, the patented seat sets 16 or 18 inches deep.
Use Accessories to add Drive parts such as a seat belt, anti-fold bar, heel strap, or cane holder. Ask us which parts you need before you tick every line.
Funding help for a manual wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a manual wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the chair needs work, you call the shop that sold it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Drive manufacturer warranty
Drive's owner manual for the Cruiser X4 family prints a Lifetime Limited Warranty for the original purchaser: free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of that purchaser. The warranty does not cover misuse, negligence, or normal wear, and it does not extend to non-durable parts such as rubber accessories, casters, and grips. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this wheelchair and a transport chair?
A standard wheelchair has large rear wheels so the person can push themselves. A transport chair has small rear wheels and is built for a caregiver to push. The Cruiser X4 is a self-propel folding wheelchair. If you want both modes on one frame, look at the Poly-Fly TR18.
Who pushes the Cruiser X4?
The person in the chair, using the hand rims. A companion can also push from the back. Engage both wheel locks before sitting or standing.
Will it fold into a car trunk?
Drive lists 12 inches wide folded, 43 inches long with the riggings, and 36 inches high. The rear axles are quick-release. We can show you the fold at delivery. It is not approved as a seat inside a moving vehicle.
What seat width do I need?
Use 16, 18, or 20 inch under Choose Width. Measure the seated hip width and leave a little room on each side. Seat depth on this family adjusts from 16 to 18 inches after the chair is here.
What is the weight capacity?
Drive lists 300 lbs on CX416, CX418, and CX420. Stay at or under that rating on every width.
Why 8 inch front casters and large rear wheels?
Eight inch front casters turn in hallways and have three height settings. Large rear wheels with hand rims are how the person self-propels. That is the trade-off against a transport chair with small wheels all around.
What is the chair weight?
Drive's current sheet says 33.5 lb or less when the chair is in the basic configuration, excluding front riggings. Carton weights on that sheet are 46, 48, and 50 lb for 16, 18, and 20 inch. We do not print a third invented number.
What is the warranty?
Drive's sheet and owner manual print a Lifetime Limited term for the original purchaser. Wear items such as casters and grips are outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
Can funding help with this chair in Ontario?
Some Ontario routes can help with mobility equipment. Eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.
Can I rent a manual wheelchair before I buy?
Westin Healthcare rents some mobility equipment. Ask us whether a manual wheelchair can go out as a rental for your dates. Purchased chairs are delivered on a scheduled date.
