Description
The Drive Cobra GT4 scooter is a 4-wheel heavy duty mobility scooter for outdoor pavement and longer rides in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Drive's Cobra GT4 tour rates it at 450 lbs (204 kg), 10 mph (16 km/h), and a maximum 35 miles (56 km), with 7 inches (18 cm) of ground clearance.
This is the top of Drive's full-size to heavy-duty ladder. A 22 inch sport captain seat, 14 inch x 4 inch pneumatic tyres, full suspension, and an 82 inch (208 cm) turning radius are how it leaves the Panther. It is not a folding travel scooter and it does not come apart for a car trunk. Range and speed change with rider weight, terrain, and battery charge.
Who this scooter is for
This heavy duty mobility scooter is for a person who needs a 450 lb rating, who will ride outdoors, and who wants more speed and clearance than the Panther. Families usually call us when 425 lbs is not enough or when 4 inches of clearance feels low on broken pavement.
If 425 lbs and a 53 inch turn are enough, start with the Drive Panther Heavy Duty 4-Wheel Scooter. If you want a midsize scooter that still comes apart for a car, see the Drive Ventura 4 DLX 4-Wheel Scooter. The Cobra GT4 is not an indoor 3-wheel scooter.
- Outdoor pavement, packed paths, and longer rides
- A 450 lb (204 kg) rating and a 20 inch or 22 inch captain seat
- 7 inches (18 cm) of clearance and a 10 mph (16 km/h) top speed
Range, speed, and batteries
Drive's Cobra GT4 tour lists a maximum range of 35 miles (56 km) and a top speed of 10 mph (16 km/h) on a 12V x 75AH pair and a 5A offboard charger. Those figures are the maximums Drive prints. Rider weight, hills, wind, and battery condition shorten them.
Use Choose Batteries if you want a Group 22 or Group 24 pair instead of the 75AH set Drive prints on the tour. Charge after every trip and leave the charger on until it shows a full charge. Only sealed lead acid batteries belong in this scooter.
Portability and transport
The Drive Cobra GT4 does not fold. Drive prints a 191 lb (87 kg) base, a 94 lb (43 kg) battery pair, a 55 lb (25 kg) seat, and a 340 lb (154 kg) total. The heaviest piece is the 191 lb base. This is a delivered scooter, not a car-trunk scooter.
Drive does not rate the Cobra GT4 as an airline travel scooter. A 75AH lead-acid pair and a 63 inch (160 cm) length will not go as cabin luggage. Ask the airline before you book if you must travel with it. The scooter is not a seat in a motor vehicle. For a scheduled drop-off in Brampton or the GTA, call (905) 451-7743.

Ventura, Panther, or Cobra: which Drive scooter fits
The Cobra GT4 is the heavy duty mobility scooter at the top of this Drive ladder. The Panther is the 425 lb, 8 mph, 25 mile outdoor scooter with a 53 inch turn, easier in a driveway. The Ventura 4 DLX is the 400 lb full-size scooter that still comes apart for a car. The Ventura 3 DLX is the indoor-turning Ventura. Stay on the Cobra if you need 450 lbs, 10 mph, and 7 inches of clearance, and you have room for an 82 inch turn.
Funding help for a mobility scooter in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a mobility scooter when the need is long-term and the scooter is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every scooter qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Service and warranty
When something on the scooter needs work, you call the shop that set it up, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Drive manufacturer warranty
Drive's Cobra GT4 tour prints a limited lifetime frame term, 14 months on electronics, and 6 months on batteries, for the original purchaser. Wear items such as tyres and shrouds sit outside that term. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
How far can a mobility scooter go?
The Drive Cobra GT4 has a maximum range of 35 miles (56 km) on Drive's Cobra GT4 tour. Rider weight, hills, wind, and battery condition shorten that number. Charge after every trip if you want the distance Drive printed.
3 wheel vs 4 wheel scooter?
The Drive Cobra GT4 is a 4-wheel heavy duty scooter. Four wheels, 14 inch x 4 inch pneumatic tyres, and 7 inches of clearance are how Drive built it for outdoor ground. A 3-wheel scooter such as the Ventura 3 DLX turns in 53 inches and sits closer to the floor. Pick the Cobra for outdoor range and capacity, not for tight indoor turns.
Can I take a mobility scooter on a plane?
The Drive Cobra GT4 is not an airline travel scooter. It is 63 inches long, 340 lbs assembled, and it uses a 75AH lead-acid pair. Ask the airline before you book. This is a delivered outdoor scooter, not a cabin fold.
Does ADP cover scooters?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program can help with a mobility scooter after an ADP-registered therapist assessment. Eligibility depends on the person and the category. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy. We will point you to the right path for your case.
How long to charge a mobility scooter?
The Drive Cobra GT4 uses a 5A offboard charger on a 75AH pair. Leave it on charge after every trip until the charger shows a full charge. A smaller Group 22 pair on Choose Batteries will take less time than the 75AH set Drive prints.
Can you use a mobility scooter in the rain?
The Drive Cobra GT4 should stay out of rain, standing water, snow, ice, and salt when you can. Drive does not print a weather rating on the Cobra tour. If the scooter gets wet, dry it, let it sit, and check the throttle and brakes before you ride again.
Do mobility scooters work in winter?
The Drive Cobra GT4 is an outdoor pavement scooter with 7 inches of clearance and pneumatic tyres, not a snow scooter. Keep it off ice and salt. Cold weather shortens battery range. Ask us about storage if the scooter will sit through a Brampton winter.
What is the weight limit for a mobility scooter?
The Drive Cobra GT4 is rated at 450 lbs (204 kg) on Drive's tour, rider plus accessories. If 425 lbs is enough and you want a tighter 53 inch turn, look at the Panther. If 400 lbs is enough and you want a scooter that comes apart, look at the Ventura 4 DLX.
How wide is a mobility scooter?
The Drive Cobra GT4 is 28.8 inches (73 cm) wide and turns in 82 inches (208 cm). Measure driveways, ramps, and elevator doors before you buy. It is the widest and longest scooter in this Drive ladder.
Can I rent a mobility scooter?
Westin Healthcare rents mobility scooters for short-term needs in the GTA. See the rentals hub and call (905) 451-7743 to check what is on the floor. A rental scooter may be a different model than the Cobra GT4.
