Description

The Bure Rise and Go is a quote-only powered walker for indoor sit-to-stand and walking practice. GATE Rehab Development AB in Reftele, Sweden designed the Bure line. Direct Healthcare Group acquired GATE in 2020. The current manufacturer is Direct Healthcare Group Sverige AB. Savaria Patient Care lists it in North America. It is not a Handicare-designed lift, even though some catalogues file it under that channel. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and sets it up across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Direct Healthcare Group's instructions for use (IFU 926 rev. 5) call the Bure Rise and Go Double an electrically operated walker with a power-rise function. The cover prints a maximum patient weight of 150 kg / 330 lb. If the person needs a sling floor lift instead, see a sit-to-stand such as the Drive sit-to-stand lift. If the clinic wants a non-powered early-walking frame with seat pads, see the RoWalker 400.

Who it is for

Use only the manufacturer's intended-use sentence. DHG writes that these walkers, with approved accessories, are intended for transfer from sitting to standing, and for walking training. They are to be used by persons with reduced muscular strength who shall be able to stand and perform simple leg movements. They are to be used for leaning on when walking and standing during early mobilization training. They are intended for indoor use only, in a home healthcare environment or a professional healthcare facility.

The same IFU forbids use above the maximum weight on the device label. It also says to perform a risk assessment on the user before using the walker to ensure they can stand and perform simple movements. This is not a full-body hoist for a person who cannot stand.

  • Indoor rehab, hospital, long-term care, or home healthcare after a clinician has assessed the person
  • Users within 150 kg (330 lb) who can stand and make simple leg movements
  • Teams that want a power-rise harness plus a walking frame in one indoor device

How it lifts

The Bure Rise and Go is a walker first. An electric actuator raises the frame. A manufacturer stand-up harness (sizes S, M, L, XL) attaches to two straps on the walker. As the frame rises, the harness shortens the distance between the person and the walker until the person is standing. DHG describes this as the power-rise function. After standing, the person leans on the armrests and walks indoors. The DB model has electric frame widening so the base can open toward a wheelchair or a bed.

DHG's IFU is plain about staffing. It says it is important to never leave the user alone during the transfer, and not to leave a care recipient unattended during a transfer. For standing up or transporting patients, DHG recommends that two people are always present. During the standing manoeuvre, one carer must stand in front of the user, apply their weight to the stirrup, and keep eye contact. The other carer may stand next to the patient.

Bure Rise and Go specifications

These figures are manufacturer SWL and intended-use facts. Westin's listing SKU is BureRiseGo (quote only). The specification tab holds the stored values. Confirm the exact article number on the quote (Savaria lists 56-309 and 56-309/75 for the DB with electric frame widening).

DHG IFU 926 rev. 5, cover and technical table for article 56-309 with 125 mm casters:

  • Maximum patient weight / SWL: 150 kg / 330 lb
  • External width: 66 to 106 cm
  • Length: 101 cm
  • Height: 95 to 135 cm (125 mm casters)
  • Product weight: 40 kg
  • Armrest internal dimension: 36 to 65 cm
  • Indoor use only

Savaria's North American card also lists 56-309/75 (75 mm casters) and prints height 90 to 130 cm. Do not mix those two height bands on the same quote. Electrical parts are described as IP65 in the DHG brochure (usable in wet spaces) and as IP66 on the IFU electrical table. Service is at least once every 12 months per the IFU.

Slings and spreader bar

This is not a Hoyer lift and it has no spreader bar. The only support textile DHG approves on this walker is the Bure stand-up harness (S, M, L, XL) and, when ordered, the gait-training kit 56-388-KIT used with the multi belt. The IFU says to use only approved accessories. Do not hang a universal, toileting, or sit-to-stand sling from this frame. If the care plan needs a sling transfer, use a floor lift and pick from our sit-to-stand slings or universal slings on that lift, not on the Bure.

Funding help for a gait trainer in Ontario

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see the equipment first. For a scheduled setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Quoted units are delivered on a scheduled date.

Gait trainers are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the unit is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

When something on the walker needs work, you call the shop that set it up. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Manufacturer warranty

DHG's current IFU 926 rev. 5 does not print a year count. It says the warranty applies only if repairs or alterations are made by personnel authorized by Direct Healthcare Group. An older GATE technical manual printed two years for manufacturing faults, excluding wear parts. Westin Healthcare processes the claim with you. Ask us what term is on the quote.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Bure Rise and Go a Handicare product?

No. GATE Rehab Development AB in Sweden designed Bure. Direct Healthcare Group bought GATE in 2020 and is the current manufacturer. Savaria Patient Care lists it in North America. Handicare is a related channel name, not the design brand.

What is the safe working load?

DHG prints 150 kg / 330 lb on the IFU cover. Do not use the walker above the weight on the device label.

Who may use it, according to the manufacturer?

DHG says it is for persons with reduced muscular strength who shall be able to stand and perform simple leg movements, for indoor sit-to-stand and walking training. Perform a risk assessment first.

How many people should be present for a stand?

DHG recommends that two people are always present when standing up or transporting. Never leave the user alone during the transfer. During standing, one carer stands in front at the stirrup and the other may stand beside the patient.

Is this a sit-to-stand floor lift?

No. It is a powered walker with a power-rise harness. It is not a Hoyer-style sit-to-stand with a spreader bar. For that class, see the Drive sit-to-stand lift.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. DHG's IFU says the device must not be used outdoors, only indoors.

What harness does it use?

The manufacturer stand-up harness in sizes S, M, L, and XL, plus the optional gait-training kit 56-388-KIT. Those are Bure accessories, not the slings in our sling categories.

How do I buy it?

This is a quote-only item. Call (905) 451-7743 or send an enquiry. We confirm the article number, harness size, casters, and accessories before we order.

Can funding help in Ontario?

Funding routes exist and eligibility depends on the situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you commit.

How is this different from the RoWalker 400?

The Bure Rise and Go is a powered walker with a power-rise harness and electric height and (on the DB) electric frame widening. The RoWalker 400 is a non-powered walking aid with split seat pads. Its SWL is 180 kg (400 lb). The person must already be able to stand with support and grasp the handles.

What warranty years should I expect?

The current DHG IFU does not print a year count. Ask us to put the term on the quote. Service is required at least once every 12 months.
