Description

The Blake Blatex is a 6 inch Canadian foam hospital mattress with a 1 3/4 inch natural latex top. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it on the bed for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Choose Mattress Type sets Standard, Soft, or Firm. Choose Mattress Size sets 36 through 60 inches wide.

Blake's current Blatex page says the mattress is intended for the maintenance of skin health and is ideal for users with some degree of mobility and a lower risk of skin breakdown. Latex gives more bounce than memory foam, which Blake recommends for people who shift their own weight. If the person wants a cooler, less bouncy foam, see the Blake Serene. If they need gel at the seat, see the G1 Single Zone.

Who this mattress is for

This mattress is for a person on a hospital-style bed who still moves in bed and wants a responsive top rather than a slow memory-foam sink. Blake positions it for everyday skin-health maintenance, not for high-stage wound care. It suits home care, and the 42 to 60 inch widths suit matching bariatric decks.

Families usually call us when the person finds memory foam hard to roll on, when transfers are still happening from the edge of the bed, or when they want a latex feel with a wipeable medical cover. Soft and Firm are factory options, not different lengths.

  • Home care on a 36 inch hospital bed such as the Drive Delta 1000
  • Wider decks at 39, 42, 48, 54, or 60 inches when the bed matches
  • Users within Blake's 350 lb standard rating, or the 500 lb custom build when we order it that way

Construction and how it works

The Blatex is a non-powered foam mattress. Blake's current page describes a dual-density foam base, firm side bolsters, and a 1 3/4 inch natural latex topper with breathing dimples for airflow. The cover is 4-way stretch, antimicrobial, fluid-proof, and wipeable.

Latex springs back faster than memory foam. That is the "responsive sleep" Blake names. There is no pump. Soft and Firm change the foam feel, not the height or the cover type.

Blake Blatex specifications

These figures are for Blake's Blatex(+size) family, including Blatex3680. The specification tab holds the stored values. Blake's current Blatex page lists a 6 inch height, standard size 36 by 80 inches, custom widths 39, 42, 48, 54, and 60 inches, a 350 lb / 160 kg standard capacity, a 500 lb / 227 kg custom capacity, and a warranty of 5 years on the mattress and 1 year on the cover.

Our type codes are BLATEX (standard), BLASFT (Soft), and BLAFRM (Firm).

Type and size options

Use Choose Mattress Type:

  • Blatex (BLATEX) - STANDARD
  • Blatex Soft (BLASFT)
  • Blatex Firm (BLAFRM)

Use Choose Mattress Size. Every option is 80 inches long and 6 inches high:

  • 36”W x 80”L x 6”H - STANDARD (Blatex3680)
  • 39”W x 80”L x 6”H, CUSTOM
  • 42”W x 80”L x 6”H, CUSTOM
  • 48”W x 80”L x 6”H, CUSTOM
  • 54”W x 80”L x 6”H, CUSTOM
  • 60”W x 80”L x 6”H, CUSTOM

A 36 inch Blatex fits the Drive Delta 1000. A 42 inch Blatex is the match for the Drive 15300LW 42-inch bariatric bed.

Funding help for a therapeutic mattress in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds or mattresses, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: ODSP, March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), hardship funding programs, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers and sets up this mattress across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, place it on the bed, and show you the latex top and the firm borders before we leave.

We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a mattress first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased mattresses are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.

Hospital mattresses are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the mattress is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Which Westin beds this mattress fits

A 36 by 80 inch Blatex is the everyday fit for Westin's 36 inch homecare frames, including the Drive Delta 1000 and the Harmony 8199. Wider Blatex sizes follow the matching bariatric deck: 42 inch on the Drive 15300LW, 48 inch on the Drive 15302LW.

Service and warranty

When something on the mattress needs work, you call the shop that set it up. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.

Blake Medical manufacturer warranty

Blake's current Blatex page states 5 years on the mattress and 1 year on the cover. We handle the warranty claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

How is latex different from memory foam on a hospital mattress?

Memory foam sinks slowly. Blake's natural latex top springs back. Blake recommends that bounce for people who still shift their own weight. The cover is still a medical, wipeable cover.

Who does Blake say the Blatex is for?

Blake's current page says it is for the maintenance of skin health, for users with some mobility and a lower risk of skin breakdown. It does not name stage III or IV.

Does this mattress need a pump?

No. The Blatex is non-powered.

How do I clean the cover?

Blake specifies a 4-way stretch, antimicrobial, fluid-proof, wipeable cover. Wipe it with the disinfectant your clinician allows.

What is the weight rating?

Blake lists 350 lbs / 160 kg on the standard Blatex and 500 lbs / 227 kg on the custom build. Tell us the person's weight when you order a wider size.

What is the difference between Standard, Soft, and Firm?

They are Blake's three foam feels. Height stays 6 inches. If you are not sure, start with Standard (BLATEX) and ask us in the store to compare Soft and Firm.

What size fits a standard hospital bed?

A 36 by 80 inch Blatex fits a standard 36 inch homecare deck such as the Drive Delta 1000.

What is the warranty?

Blake's current Blatex page states 5 years on the mattress and 1 year on the cover. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work.

Can funding help pay for this mattress in Ontario?

Several Ontario funding routes can help with a therapeutic support surface. Eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.

Can I try a Blatex before I buy?

Blake invites distributors to arrange a trial. Ask us when you call.

What is included?

You get the Blake Blatex mattress in the type and size you pick, with the 4-way stretch cover on it. The bed frame is sold separately.
