Blake Medical Geo-Matrix Mattress Gel Overlay

The Blake Geo-Matrix gel overlay is a 1.5 inch dry-polymer gel sheet that straps onto an existing foam mattress. It is not a full replacement. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and places it on the mattress you already have for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Official product code is GMO(+size), for example GMO3680.

Blake's current shop card for GMO3680 says the overlay is for maintenance of skin health and treatment of early stage, non-complex pressure ulcers. The gel category page describes a full 1.5 inch Geo-Matrix overlay that straps onto an existing system. If the foam underneath is worn out, buy a replacement such as the G1 Single Zone instead of stacking gel on a failed foam. Blake's foam overlay (GIO) and hybrid overlay (GHO) are different products.

Who this mattress is for

This overlay is for a person who already has a usable foam hospital mattress and whose clinician has asked for a Geo-Matrix gel layer on top for early-stage, non-complex skin care. It suits home care when a full G-series replacement is not yet needed, and anyone who wants gel immersion without taking the current foam off the deck.

Families usually call us when heels or the seat are reddening on a still-intact foam, or when they want to try gel before committing to a G1 or G2. Do not put this overlay on slats or on a spring deck. It needs a foam mattress under it.

Construction and how it works

The GMO overlay is a non-powered gel overlay. Blake's GMO3680 shop card lists construction as Blue Mattress Gel, height 1.5 inches, and a 4-way stretch, antimicrobial, fluid-proof, wipeable cover. The 2021 overlay brochure describes 1.5 inch thick dry-polymer gel columns that collapse and load-share, plus a Cal. Bulletin 117 fire-retardant cover. The gel category page says the overlay straps onto the existing mattress.

This is not gel-infused foam. It is the same family of Geo-Matrix columns used in the G-series, in a thin overlay format. There is no pump.

Blake's current GMO3680 shop card lists height 1.5 inches, product code GMO(W x D), standard sizes 36, 39, 42, 54, and 60 by 80 inches, and a warranty of 5 years on the overlay and 1 year on the cover. The brochure also names 48 by 80 inches. We sell that width here.

Blake's live GMO card does not print a weight capacity. We do not invent one. Ask us to confirm capacity with Blake for the person in the bed.

Match the overlay to the foam underneath, not to a wider deck. A 36 inch overlay on a 36 inch foam on the Drive Delta 1000 is the usual home-care stack. A 42 inch overlay belongs on 42 inch foam on the Drive 15300LW.

The overlay does not sit on the bed frame. It sits on a foam mattress that already fits the frame. A 36 inch stack fits the Drive Delta 1000 and the Harmony 8199. A 42 inch stack fits the Drive 15300LW. Add the 1.5 inch overlay height when you check side rails.

Service and warranty

When something on the overlay needs work, you call the shop that set it up. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
