Permobil Align Mattress - 5 Minds Mobility

The Permobil Align is 5 Minds Mobility's multi-zone SRT foam hospital mattress, distributed in Canada by Permobil. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and sets it on the bed for homes and care rooms in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. One piece of high-resiliency foam runs through the torso. Square cuts under the sacrum and heels release surface tension so those areas can immerse without turning the whole mattress into a soft slab.

Align is the SRT foam that does not open for ROHO sections. If the therapist wants those wells, use the Permobil Adapt. If you want gel swirl on top instead of HR foam, use the Permobil Allay. If you only need a firmer 6 inch stack with no SRT, start with the Permobil Somn.

Who this mattress is for

This mattress is for a person who needs a hospital-bed foam surface with different immersion at the head, torso, and heels, plus a firm transfer border. Families usually call us when a therapist has asked for SRT, when a one-piece consumer mattress is too hard at the sacrum, or when the person needs help with transfers and a raised edge.

Use Bariatric Upgrade when the therapist asked for the high-density Align Bariatric foam. That is a different density and a higher weight rating, not a second therapy class. Regular Align is 350 or 500 lb by width. Align Bariatric is 600 lb on 36 to 42 inch and 800 lb on 48 to 60 inch.

Construction and how it works

Align is a reactive foam mattress with patented Shear Reduction Technology. SRT lets layers inside the surface move so shear on the skin is reduced when the person slides or when the head of the bed is raised. Permobil describes a unique multi-zone surface: one piece of HR foam at the torso, 4 inch square cuts in the foam under the sacrum, and 2 inch square cuts under the heels. Firm borders and a raised sleep surface sit around that core. Head and foot foam stay fixed so the cut sections can reset.

The cover is a full enclosure with a Recovery 5 top. Permobil also lists a Recovery 5 Ultra cover and a custom raised bolster as factory upgrades. Those are not on this picker. Ask us if the therapist named either one. Wipe the cover with neutral soap and lukewarm water. Ask before anyone uses a washing machine.

Hospital mattresses are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the mattress is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Which Westin beds this mattress fits

A 36 inch Align sits on the Permobil Halsa and on the Drive Delta 1000. A 42 inch Align needs a 42 inch deck such as the Drive 15300LW. Match 48 and 54 inch rows to the matching Drive bariatric frames. Call us for a 60 inch deck.

How is Align different from Somn or Allay?

Somn is a firmer 6 inch stack with no SRT. Allay uses a GelFlex top and is reversible. Align is 7 inch multi-zone HR foam with SRT, sacral cuts, and heel cuts. It does not take ROHO sections. That job belongs to Adapt.

How do I clean the Align cover?

Unzip the Recovery 5 enclosure and wipe it with neutral soap and lukewarm water. Rinse and let it dry. Ask us before anyone uses a washing machine. Do not use harsh solvents.

What is the weight rating?

Standard Align is 350 lb on 36 and 39 inch and 500 lb on 42 inch and wider. Align Bariatric (the Yes row under Bariatric Upgrade) is 600 lb on 36 to 42 inch and 800 lb on 48 to 60 inch. Use the lower of the mattress rating and the bed rating.
