Permobil calls Allay the best option for users who want this gel top and do not need ROHO air mattress sections. If the care plan may add those sections later, use the Permobil Adapt. Construction and how it works

Allay is a reactive gel-foam mattress with patented Shear Reduction Technology. The gel-infused Visco top is there for immersion and a cooler feel than a plain visco slab. SRT lets layers inside the surface move so shear on the skin is reduced when the person slides or when the head of the bed is raised. 5 Minds also describes 360 degrees of movement, fixed head and foot sections so the middle can reset, a higher-cut middle for immersion, and accordion-cut side bolsters for transfers.

The mattress is reversible. The cover is a full enclosure with a Recovery 5 top. Permobil lists a Recovery 5 Ultra cover and a custom raised bolster as factory upgrades. Those are not on this picker. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds or mattresses, so plan around other routes. How is Allay different from Align or Adapt?

Allay has a GelFlex / gel-infused Visco top and is reversible. Align is multi-zone HR foam without that gel top. Adapt opens for ROHO or Vicair sections. All three use SRT. Allay is the one Permobil points to when those air sections are not required.

How do I clean the Allay cover?

Unzip the Recovery 5 enclosure and wipe it with neutral soap and lukewarm water. Rinse and let it dry. Ask us before anyone uses a washing machine. Do not use harsh solvents.

What is the weight rating?

Permobil prints 350 lb on 36 and 39 inch Allay rows, including the 36 x 84 row, and 500 lb on 42 inch and wider rows. Use the lower of the mattress rating and the bed rating.

What size do I need?

Measure the sleep deck. Allay is 7 inches high. Widths are 36, 39, 42, 48, 54, and 60 inches. Length is 80 inches, or 84 inches on AL3684 and AL4284.

Does Allay have a pump?

No. Allay is non-powered gel foam. There is nothing to plug in and nothing to hear at night.
