Description
The SPAN Geo-Mattress Atlas is Span America's heavy-duty bariatric foam mattress. Span America is a Savaria company. Westin Healthcare quotes it, delivers it, and sets it on the bed for homes and care settings in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This listing is the Atlas only: a 7-inch, four-layer progressive-resistance foam built for higher body weight and for wider decks. Span rates it at 600 lb on 35 inches, 675 lb on 39 inches, and 750 lb on 42, 48, and 54 inches. It is a still foam surface, not a pump system. The bed frame is sold separately.
Who this mattress is for
This mattress is for a person whose therapist has asked for a bariatric foam surface, or whose body weight and bed width sit above a standard 36-inch, 350 to 400 lb Geo-Mattress. Families usually pair a 35-inch Atlas with a 35-inch Span deck, a 39-inch Atlas with a 39-inch expanded deck, and a 42-inch Atlas with a 42-inch expanded Span deck or a 42-inch bariatric bed.
Choose Atlas when the care plan calls for a non-powered foam mattress with a Geo-Matt top, a Heel Slope, and a 600 to 750 lb rating. If the therapist named a standard-weight Geo-Mattress (350, Plus, Pro, Max, UltraMax, or HC), that is a different listing. If they named a powered air surface, start with the Span PressureGuard mattresses we already stock and we will match the width.
- Home care or long-term care on a 35, 39, 42, 48, or 54 inch sleep deck
- Anyone who needs 600, 675, or 750 lb on foam, not an air mattress
- A care plan that asked for a Geo-Matt segmented top and a Heel Slope on a bariatric width
Construction and how it works
Atlas is a four-layer foam mattress. The top 2 inches are the Geo-Matt design: more than 800 independent support cells that move separately so the surface can reduce friction and shear next to the skin. Ring-of-Air channels in that top help move heat and moisture away from the body. Under the top, three high-resiliency layers get progressively firmer. Span calls this progressive resistance: the friendliest foam sits against the person, and the densest foam sits farthest away, so the mattress can take a wide range of body weights and still stay supportive.
At the foot, Heel Slope tapers the foam so more of the load sits on the lower leg and less sits on the heel. The cover is fluid-proof, bacteriostatically treated coated nylon. On 35-inch sizes Span puts the zipper on the bottom. The mattress uses standard bed linens. There is no pump and no motor noise.
Span lists Atlas for prevention of Stage 1 to 4 pressure injuries, and as a surface that may also suit a single Stage 2 injury after a full clinical assessment. That is Span's indication language, not a promise that a wound will heal.

Funding help for a therapeutic mattress in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not cover hospital beds or mattresses, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team delivers and sets up this mattress across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We bring it in, place it on the bed, and check the fit before we leave.
We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a mattress first. For a scheduled in-home setup, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works. Same-day delivery is offered through our hospital bed rental service; purchased mattresses are delivered and set up on a scheduled date.
Hospital mattresses are oversized. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods does not apply. If the mattress is going outside the GTA, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery (bring-in, unwrap, test, take packaging away) is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Which Westin beds this mattress fits
Span writes that Atlas fully articulates to a standard hospital-bed frame. Confirm the mattress fits the frame and keep gaps small. Match width to width and length to length.
A 35-inch Atlas fits the 35-inch sleep deck on the Span America Advantage. A 39-inch or 42-inch Atlas fits those same Span frames after they are opened to 39 or 42 inches, including the Span America Encore (36 / 39 / 42 inches, 600 lb safe working load) and the Span ReadyWide we stock for homes that want built-in 39 and 42 inch expansion. A 42-inch Atlas also fits the Drive 15300LW 42-inch bariatric bed.
48-inch and 54-inch Atlas sizes need a matching 48-inch or 54-inch sleep deck. Ask us to pair those with the matching-width bariatric bed we already sell. Check both the mattress rating and the bed safe working load before we book delivery: the Advantage is 500 lb, the Encore is 600 lb, and Atlas itself is 600 to 750 lb by width. See all hospital beds if you are still choosing a platform.
Service and warranty
When something on the mattress needs work, you call the shop that delivered it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department. Our technicians come to the home or workplace.
Span America manufacturer warranty
Span lists 3 years on the mattress core and 2 years on the cover, for the original purchaser. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
How is the Geo-Mattress Atlas different from the other Geo-Mattress foams?
Atlas is the bariatric tier. It is 7 inches thick, uses four foam layers, and is rated 600 to 750 lb on widths from 35 to 54 inches. The standard-weight Geo-Mattress foams are 5 or 6 inches thick and stop at 250 to 400 lb on a usual 35-inch deck. This page is Atlas only.
How is Atlas different from an alternating-pressure mattress?
Atlas is foam. The surface stays still. There is no pump and no motor noise. An alternating-pressure mattress uses a control unit. If the therapist asked for air therapy, we will quote a Span PressureGuard surface in the matching width instead.
What is the weight rating on the Geo-Mattress Atlas?
Span lists 600 lb on every 35-inch size, 675 lb on 39 inches, and 750 lb on 42, 48, and 54 inches. We still check the bed's safe working load. A 750 lb mattress on a 500 lb or 600 lb frame is limited by the lower of the two ratings.
What size Atlas do I need?
Match the mattress to the sleep deck. 35-inch deck, a 35-inch Atlas. 39-inch deck, A8039-29. 42-inch deck, A8042-29 or A8442-29. 48-inch and 54-inch decks take A8048-29 / A8448-29 and A8054-29 / A8454-29. Length is 75, 80, or 84 inches. Measure the deck before we quote.
Which Span beds does Atlas fit?
Span states that Atlas articulates on a standard hospital-bed frame. We commonly set a 35-inch Atlas on the Span America Advantage, and a 39-inch or 42-inch Atlas on an expanded Advantage, Encore, or ReadyWide deck. Confirm the open deck width before we cut the order.
How do I clean the Atlas cover?
Span says to wipe with neutral soap and lukewarm water, rinse, and let the cover air-dry for 20 to 30 minutes. Use a hospital-grade phenolic or quaternary disinfectant if you need to disinfect. Do not immerse the mattress or send the cover to a laundry. Do not put a wet cover back on the foam.
What is the warranty on the Geo-Mattress Atlas?
Span lists 3 years on the foam core and 2 years on the cover for the original purchaser. Westin Healthcare processes the warranty work.
Can funding help pay for this mattress in Ontario?
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program does not cover mattresses. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada, and community programs may still help, depending on the person. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will point you to the right route before anyone starts paperwork.
Can I rent a mattress like this before I buy?
Westin Healthcare rents hospital beds with a therapeutic medical mattress included. Bariatric widths are a special order. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will tell you what we can put in the home this week.
What is included with the Geo-Mattress Atlas?
You get the Span Geo-Mattress Atlas foam mattress in the Size you pick. The bed frame, rails, and any air pump are sold separately.
Does Atlas come in 48 or 54 inches?
Yes. Span lists A8048-29 and A8448-29 at 48 inches, and A8054-29 and A8454-29 at 54 inches, all rated 750 lb. Those sizes need a matching-width bariatric deck.
