Invacare Standard Sling with Commode Opening

The Invacare Standard Sling 9047 is a one-piece mesh sling with a commode opening. It attaches with Invacare 9070 straps or 9071 chains, not with colour-coded loops. Invacare rates it at 450 lb. Westin Healthcare sells it in Brampton for homes that still run an Invacare 9805 or 9805P hydraulic lift.

This is not a Reliant loop sling. If your lift is the Invacare Reliant 450, use a Reliant one-piece sling such as the Invacare Divided Leg Sling or the Invacare Comfort Sling.

Who this sling is for

Invacare's Standard Series supports the person from shoulders to knees. The commode opening is for toileting on a 9805 / 9805P. The mesh has a brushed lining and can be used wet or dry. It is a one-size Standard article. This is not a sit-to-stand sling and not a ceiling-lift sling.

Sizing

9047 is one size (Standard). Invacare-spec reprints print overall length 40.5 in, overall width 29 in, and 450 lb. Confirm that this Standard size is the right sling with a clinician or our staff before first use. There is no manufacturer junior-to-XL chart on this article.

Attachment and compatible lifts

Attachment is strap or chain. Four metal support bars sit in pockets on the sling. The 9070 strap kit or 9071 chain kit hooks through those bars. The short section of strap or chain goes to the back. The S-hook open end faces away from the person. Remove the metal bars before laundry and put them back before the next lift.

Invacare's shop card and Patient Slings manual name the 9805 and 9805P for this Standard Series. Westin does not list a 9805P page. Do not put 9047 on the Reliant 450 swivel bar. The Reliant uses one-piece loop slings. Shop other toileting styles in toileting slings.

Care and laundering

Remove the four metal support bars before you wash the sling. Invacare says wash regularly in water not over 180 F (82 C). Do not bleach. Air dry or dry at low temperature. Inspect after every wash. Put the bars back so the mounting hole sits in the centre opening of each pocket before the next lift. Follow the tag on the sling.

No. Invacare's shop card names the 9805P for this Standard sling. The Reliant 450 takes one-piece loop slings such as R100 or the Comfort Sling.

What is the safe working load?

Do the straps come with the sling?

No. Invacare sells 9070 (straps) and 9071 (chains) as kits. Ask us if you already have a pair that matches this sling.
