Description

The AquaSense Adjustable Bath Seat with Backrest is AquaSense item 770-510, a shower chair with back for a bathtub or a stall. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The frame is rust-resistant aluminum. The seat and the back are blow-molded plastic.

AquaSense rates 770-510 at 300 lb (136 kg). The seat sits 20 in by 12 in (51 cm by 30.5 cm). The back is the same 20 in by 12 in. Eight push-pin levels set the seat from 14 in to 21 in (36 cm to 53 cm). Drainage holes, a textured seat, handles in the seat and the back, and latex-free rubber tips are standard.

Who this bath seat is for

This bath seat is for a person who stays at or under the 300 lb rating and who wants a shower chair with back that stays in the tub or the stall. Families usually call us when they want a backrest and they do not need a transfer bench that bridges the tub wall.

If you want the same standard line without a back, start with the AquaSense Adjustable Bath Seat without Backrest. If you want the contoured ergonomic line with a back, see the AquaSense Ergonomic Adjustable Bath Seat with Backrest.

  • A seated wash in a tub or a stall, with a backrest
  • Eight heights from 14 in to 21 in
  • Tool-free setup with nine blue knobs

Seat height and fit

Sit on the seat in the tub or the stall with your feet flat. Your hips and knees should sit at a comfortable bend. AquaSense prints eight levels from 14 in to 21 in (36 cm to 53 cm). Match the four legs to the same hole before you sit.

The seat is 20 in wide by 12 in deep (51 cm by 30.5 cm). The back is 20 in by 12 in. AquaSense does not print a width between arms on 770-510. Come into a Brampton or Toronto store if you want to sit on the seat before you order.

Frame, drainage, and assembly

The frame is rust-resistant aluminum. The seat and the back are blow-molded plastic. Drive's current sheet says the plastic parts use recycled materials. Large drainage holes let water through the seat. The seat surface is textured. Handles are molded into the seat and the back.

Each leg has a non-skid, non-slip rubber tip. AquaSense prints the tips as latex-free. Height uses a push pin. Assembly is tool-free: nine blue knobs on the brand page, a snap-together design on Drive's sheet. We can put it together at delivery.

AquaSense Adjustable Bath Seat with Backrest specifications

These figures are for AquaSense item 770-510 as printed on the official brand page and Drive's current one-pager. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use 14 in to 21 in and 300 lb. AquaSense does not print a 4.5 lb unit weight or a 20.5 in outside-leg figure on 770-510.

Capacity 300 lb (136 kg). Seat 20 in by 12 in (51 cm by 30.5 cm). Back 20 in by 12 in. Height 14 in to 21 in (36 cm to 53 cm), eight levels. Tool-free, nine blue knobs. Warranty for a Canadian purchaser follows AquaSense's printed term: limited lifetime.

Bath seat, transfer bench, or shower commode

A bath seat sits inside the tub or the stall. A transfer bench bridges the tub wall so the person sits outside and slides in. A shower commode rolls and has a pail or a toilet aperture. The AquaSense 770-510 is a bath seat with a back. It is not a transfer bench and it is not a commode.

If the person needs to slide in from outside the tub, start with the Drive Combination Transfer Bench and Commode. If they want a rolling shower commode, see the Drive Aluminum Shower Chair and Commode. If they want the same AquaSense line without a back, use the seat without backrest.

Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
