Description
The Airgo Comfort-Plus XC is AMG Medical's attendant-propelled transport chair, sold as SKU 700-830 in black. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. A caregiver pushes this chair. The person in the seat does not self-propel it.
Drive's current 700-830 sheet lists a 21 lb chair, a 300 lb weight capacity, and a 19 inch seat-to-floor height. The rear wheels are 12 inches with premium bearings, which is larger than the 8 inch wheels on a basic transport chair. Flip-back detachable armrests, a fold-down back, lockable hand brakes, a seat belt, and heel-loops come on the chair.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who needs to be pushed for short trips, appointments, or days out, and for the caregiver who will do the pushing. Families usually call us when someone can walk very little or not at all, but does not need a full-size wheelchair with 24 inch self-propel wheels. The 12 inch rear wheels make the ride a little smoother than an 8 inch transport chair when you leave a smooth indoor floor.
If the person still walks some of the time and only needs a seat or a push now and then, start with the Airgo Fusion 2-in-1 rollator and transport chair. If you want a lighter 8 inch aluminum transport chair, see the Drive Fly-Lite DFL19. If you need a 17 inch companion chair at a simpler spec, see the Drive Aluminum Transport Chair ATC17.
- Caregiver-pushed trips to the clinic, the store, or a family visit
- Someone who wants a compact chair that folds for the car
- A 19 inch seat and a 300 lb rating, not a 22 inch heavy duty frame
Design and build
This is a folding transport chair. The caregiver stands behind the angled handlebars and uses the ergo-form handgrips. Brake levers sit on those handgrips, so the person pushing can lock the chair for a transfer without bending to a wheel lock. The rear wheels are 12 inches. Front casters are 8 inches.
The armrests flip back and come off, which helps with a side transfer and lets the chair pull up to a table. The footrests swing and can lock to the side of the frame when you store the chair. The back folds down so the chair packs smaller. A seat belt and heel-loops are standard. A pouch on the backrest holds small items.
- Lockable hand brakes on the push handles
- Detachable flip-back armrests
- Footrests that lock to the side of the frame
- Fold-down back for the car or a closet
- Seat belt and heel-loops included
- Backrest pouch

Funding help for a transport wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) covers manual and power wheelchairs but does not cover transport chairs, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs. If a self-propelled wheelchair could suit the person's needs, an ADP assessment may open 75% funding on an eligible chair. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a transport chair and a standard wheelchair?
A transport chair is built to be pushed. The rear wheels stay small, and there are no large hand rims for the person in the seat to self-propel. A standard wheelchair has 24 inch rear wheels with pushrims so the person can wheel themselves, or a caregiver can still push. The Comfort-Plus XC is a transport chair with 12 inch rear wheels.
Who pushes the Airgo Comfort-Plus XC?
The caregiver pushes it from the handlebars. The person in the seat is not meant to self-propel this model. If the person needs to wheel themselves, look at a standard wheelchair instead of this chair.
Will this chair fold into a car trunk?
Yes. The back folds down and the frame folds so the chair can go in a typical car trunk. Drive lists the chair itself at 21 lbs. Fold the footrests to the side of the frame before you lift. If you want to try the fold on the shop floor, come into a Brampton or Toronto store or call (905) 451-7743.
What seat width is the Comfort-Plus XC?
Westin's spec tab and Canadian dealer sheets for SKU 700-830 record a 19 inch seat width and a 16 inch seat depth. Measure the person's hip width and leave a little room on each side. If 19 inches is tight, ask us about a wider chair.
What is the weight capacity?
Drive lists 300 lbs for SKU 700-830. If the person is near that limit, ask us about a heavy duty chair instead of stretching this frame.
Why 12 inch rear wheels instead of 8 inch?
An 8 inch transport chair is lighter and smaller. The XC uses 12 inch rear wheels with premium bearings so the chair rolls more easily on uneven pavement. You trade a little extra size for a smoother push. The Fly-Lite DFL19 stays on 8 inch rear wheels if you want the smaller package.
What is the warranty on the Comfort-Plus XC?
Drive's 700-830 sheet prints a limited lifetime warranty on the frame and 90 days on wearable components, for the original purchaser. Westin Healthcare processes the claim. Details are on our service and repairs page.
Does funding help with a transport chair in Ontario?
Some Ontario routes can help with mobility equipment, and eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy. We will point you to the right path for your case.
Can I rent a transport chair before I buy?
Westin Healthcare rents transport chairs for short-term needs. See the transport wheelchair rental page and call (905) 451-7743 to check what is on the floor. A rental chair may be a different model than this Airgo XC.
What is included with SKU 700-830?
You get the black Comfort-Plus XC transport chair with flip-back armrests, swing-away footrests, a seat belt, heel-loops, and the backrest pouch. It comes in black only, in one size.
Is this the same chair as the Airgo Comfort-Plus 700-846?
No. 700-846 is the Comfort-Plus with 8 inch wheels. 700-830 is the XC, with 12 inch rear wheels and the same 300 lb rating. Westin sells the XC model, 700-830.
