Description

The SystemRoMedic SitWalk is an 8-handle strap for moving a person farther back in a chair or wheelchair after they have slid forward. Savaria Patient Care lists it as SitWalk. You place it under the seated person's thighs, pull the padded handles, and take it off when they sit against the backrest. Westin Healthcare quotes it and delivers it across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.

This is not a stay-on one-way glide. If the person needs a mat that stays on the seat and resists sliding forward, that is OneWaySlide, a different SystemRoMedic article. This is not an in-bed slide sheet. If the work is turning or moving someone in bed, start with the EasySlide and WendyLett sheets we already stock. This is not the unbranded one-way glides we already sell (11435 to 11439). SitWalk is the named 6080 strap: eight handles, under the thighs, then off.

Who it is for

SitWalk is for a person who has slid forward in a chair or wheelchair and needs to be moved back while remaining seated. The caregiver leans the person to one side and pulls, then leans the other way, a hip-hitch that walks one side back at a time. One caregiver can do it if they move from side to side and work with straight arms. Two caregivers can share the sides.

  • Homes and care sites that reposition in a wheelchair or armchair
  • A person who can sit up or lean a little forward while a caregiver pulls under the thighs
  • Sites that want a named Handicare article with a printed safe working load
  • A person inside 150 kg (331 lb)

What you get

You get one SitWalk, article 6080. It is a polyester strap 55.1 x 5.1 in (1400 x 130 mm) with eight padded handles. Nothing else ships in the carton. A FootStool is a separate helper the instructions name to raise the feet and unload the thighs. We will quote that only if you want it.

Place the strap under the thighs, close to the seat, with the handles facing out. Pull the handles alternately from the right and left so the strap slides toward the buttocks. Lean the person to one side and pull by shifting your weight. Then lean the other way. Keep going until they sit fully against the backrest. Take the strap off the same way, walking it back out along the thighs so the person does not come with it.

Wash per the product label. The SystemRoMedic textile sheet for manual devices allows 60-80 C. Do not use fabric softener. Avoid tumble-drying if you want the longest service life. Inspect seams, fabric, and handles after every wash. Discard the strap if the fabric is worn or faded.

SitWalk specifications

These figures are for SystemRoMedic SitWalk article 6080, not OneWaySlide, not EasySlide, not WendyLett, not EasyGlide, and not SitWalk 6085. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Safe working load is 150 kg (331 lb). Size on the Handicare dimensions sheet and the live Savaria code line is 55.1 x 5.1 in (1400 x 130 mm) with eight handles. Material in the current instructions is polyester. Expected lifetime in the instructions is up to 10 years of normal use. The current instructions mark it as a Class I medical device.

Do not read OneWaySlide 2069-2077 sizes, EasySlide bed lengths, or extra-long SitWalk 6085 (245 x 12 cm, StandUp accessory) onto this page.

Delivery in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team can deliver this strap across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sample first. For a scheduled drop-off, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.

This is a small carton. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships on its own. If it travels with an oversized lift, ask us for a freight quote. Inside Toronto and the GTA, White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Which chairs this fits

SitWalk is made for a chair or wheelchair seat. It goes under the thighs. It is not a lift sling and does not attach to a carry bar. It is not an in-bed sheet. It is not a stay-on seat glide.

If the person can stand and step with help, look at the Handicare ReTurn, the QuickMove sit-to-stand aid, or the Handicare MiniLift. If the work is in bed, stay with EasySlide or WendyLett. We already sell unbranded one-way glides (11435 to 11439) for a stay-on seated job. Ask us which aid to quote. Those stay on their own listings.

Service, repairs, and warranty

When a strap wears out, you call the shop that sold it. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.

SystemRoMedic SitWalk warranty

The current instructions print an expected lifetime of up to 10 years of normal use. They do not print a separate warranty year count. Inspect the strap after every wash and replace it when the fabric, seams, or handles show wear. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

What is the SystemRoMedic SitWalk?

It is an 8-handle polyester strap. You place it under the thighs and use a sit-walk / hip-hitch pull to move a person back in a chair or wheelchair, then take it off.

What article can I quote?

One live Savaria code: 6080, 55.1 x 5.1 in (1400 x 130 mm), eight handles, 150 kg (331 lb). This listing is that article only.

What is the safe working load?

150 kg (331 lb) on 6080. Stay inside the number printed on the article you receive.

How do I use it?

Place it under the thighs, close to the seat, handles facing out. Pull the handles left and right in turn. Lean the person to one side and pull by shifting your weight, then lean the other way, until they sit against the backrest. Raise the feet to unload the thighs. Take the strap off the same way.

How many caregivers does it take?

One or two. If you work alone, move from side to side so you always pull with straight arms. Two caregivers can take a side each.

How is this different from OneWaySlide?

OneWaySlide is a padded one-direction mat the person can stay sitting on. SitWalk is a strap you put under the thighs, pull, and remove. They are different articles.

How is this different from EasySlide or WendyLett?

EasySlide and WendyLett are in-bed slide sheets. SitWalk is a chair and wheelchair strap. Keep them on separate cards.

Can the person stay sitting on it?

No. The instructions tell you to remove SitWalk after the move by walking it back out along the thighs. A stay-on seated glide is a different product.

Does a FootStool come with it?

No. The instructions name a FootStool to raise the feet and unload the thighs. It is a separate product. Ask us if you want it on the quote.

Is there a longer SitWalk?

Article 6085 is an extra-long SitWalk used with the StandUp aid. It is not this listing. We are quoting 6080 only.

How do I wash it?

Follow the product label. The SystemRoMedic textile sheet for manual devices allows 60-80 C. Do not use fabric softener. Avoid tumble-drying. Inspect it after every wash.

How fast can a purchased SitWalk be delivered in the GTA?

This is a smaller good. Ask us for the next ship date. Call (905) 451-7743. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service for lifts and beds, not automatically to a purchased strap.
