Description
The Handicare Thorax Sling is a disposable sit-to-stand vest made for MiniLift sit-to-stand lifts. It supports rising, standing training, gait training, and toileting. The vest sits from the mid to low back around the torso, closes on a buckle, and uses alternative lift loops so the person can stand more upright. Westin Healthcare quotes the family in Brampton and fits it across the Greater Toronto Area on the Handicare MiniLift.
This is the disposable Thorax Sling with seat support. It is a loop vest. The strap loops hook to the MiniLift slingbar. It does not use clip or E-clip fasteners. It is not a seated full-body transfer sling. If the person cannot take part in standing, start with the Handicare Universal Sling.
Who this sling is for
The Thorax Sling is for a person who can take part in a sit-to-stand with a MiniLift, and who needs a thorax vest rather than a full seated sling. Handicare applies it from a sitting position. The arms stay outside the vest. A reinforced seat panel sits under the seat. It is a single-patient disposable article.
- Sit-to-stand transfers from a chair, wheelchair, or bedside
- Standing training and gait training on a MiniLift
- Toileting while the person is supported in standing
- Users inside the size band and inside 440 lb (200 kg), limited by the lowest rating among the MiniLift, the slingbar, and the sling
What you get
You get one disposable Thorax Sling with seat support in the article on your quote. The body is a non-woven vest with a buckle waist belt, a colour size tag, and strap loops at three lengths. The seat panel tucks under the seat. A MiniLift is sold separately.
Place the vest behind the back with the label facing out so it does not press into the underarms. Connect the waist belt and take up the loose strap if more support is needed. Choose the shortest strap loop that reaches the MiniLift slingbar. Use the same loop length on both sides.
Sizing
Handicare prints recommended user-weight bands and vest widths for this family. People of the same height or weight can still need different sizes. Confirm the size with a clinician or our staff before first use.

Handicare Thorax Sling specifications
These figures are for the current disposable-with-seat family, articles 45690004 through 45690008. They are not the reusable polyester ThoraxSling and not a stand-aid sling for a different lift. The specification tab holds the stored values.
Every size is 440 lb (200 kg). Fabric is disposable non-woven. Attachment is loop. There is a buckle waist belt and a reinforced seat panel. There is no head-support panel. Medium 45690006 is the article on the official gallery. Inspect loops, the buckle, the seat panel, and seams before every use and discard the sling if you find tears, soil, or a label that cannot be read.
Sizes and options
Use the Size selector to pick the factory article on your quote:
- 45690004: Small
- 45690006: Medium
- 45690007: Large
- 45690008: Extra Large
This listing is quote-only. The sling on your quote is the article you pick. A reusable polyester ThoraxSling and a wipeable ThoraxSling are different articles, quoted on their own cards when you need those fabrics.
Care and laundering
This vest is for one patient. Do not put it through the laundry. The product label reads DO NOT WASH. Discard it when it is soiled, damaged, or when the person no longer needs it. Follow the tag on the article you receive.
Delivery in Brampton and the GTA
Westin's own team can deliver this sling across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, on its own or with a Handicare MiniLift setup. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sling first. For a scheduled drop-off or a fitting, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.
This is a small carton. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships without a lift. If it travels with a patient lift, the lift is oversized and White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.
Attachment and compatible lifts
The Thorax Sling is a loop vest. Strap loops seat on the MiniLift slingbar. It does not use clip fasteners and it does not use Human Care E-clips.
Handicare makes this vest for MiniLift sit-to-stand lifts: MiniLift160, MiniLift200, and MiniLift125. On our floor that is the Handicare MiniLift we already sell as MiniLift160 (350 lb) and MiniLift200 (440 lb). Shop related styles in sit-to-stand slings.
The finished transfer is limited by the lowest rating among the lift, the slingbar, and the sling. A MiniLift160 transfer stays inside 350 lb even though this sling is 440 lb. A MiniLift200 transfer can use the full 440 lb sling rating.
This vest is not for a Beka NORA, a SPAN F500S, or a ReTurn. The Handicare ReTurn is a different sit-to-stand aid and uses its own belt. If the person needs a seated loop transfer rather than a stand, start with the Handicare Universal Sling.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When something on the sling needs work, you call the shop that sold it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.
Handicare / Savaria manufacturer warranty
Handicare warrants slings against defects in material or workmanship for 1 year from the date of installation or 18 months from the date of manufacture, whichever is shorter. This disposable vest is for one patient. Discard it if it is soiled or damaged. We handle the claim with you.
Frequently asked questions
What model is this?
It is the Handicare Thorax Sling, listed by Savaria Patient Care. Medium is 45690006. Small, Large, and Extra Large follow the same 4569 disposable-with-seat pattern. Non-woven vest, buckle waist belt, seat panel, loop straps for MiniLift.
Is this a loop sling or a clip sling?
Loop. Strap loops hook to the MiniLift slingbar. It does not use clip fasteners or Human Care mushroom E-clips.
What is the safe working load?
440 lb (200 kg) on every size. The finished system is limited by the lowest rating among the MiniLift, the slingbar, and the sling. A MiniLift160 transfer stays inside 350 lb.
Which size should I order?
Use Handicare's recommended weight band and vest width as a starting point, then confirm with a clinician or our staff before first use. Medium 45690006 is the usual starting article. We will match the selector to one manufacturer article.
Which Westin lifts does it fit?
The Handicare MiniLift we sell: MiniLift160 and MiniLift200. Handicare also names MiniLift125. It does not fit a NORA, F500S, ReTurn, QuickMove, or Independent Lifter.
How is this different from a reusable ThoraxSling?
This card is the disposable vest with seat support, 440 lb, do not wash. A reusable polyester ThoraxSling is a different article at a higher rating. Ask us for the card that matches the fabric you want.
Can I wash it?
No. It is a single-patient vest. The label reads DO NOT WASH. Discard it when it is soiled, damaged, or no longer needed.
Does it ride up under the arms?
Handicare designs the MiniLift boom so the pull ends in the lower back. Place the vest so it does not press into the underarms, keep the arms outside, and choose the shortest loops that reach the bar.
Does the person need to take part in standing?
Yes. This is a sit-to-stand vest on a MiniLift, not a passive full-body hoist. If the person cannot stand with help, use a seated sling such as the Handicare Universal Sling on a floor or ceiling lift.
Does funding cover a sling in Ontario?
Slings follow the funding path of the lift they are used with. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check the MiniLift and the sling together.
