Description

The Human Care Amputee Sling is a shoulder-height divided-leg sling with a reinforced back. Human Care rates every size at 300 kg (660 lb). Westin Healthcare sells it in Brampton and fits it across the Greater Toronto Area for people with a single-leg or double amputation, hip problems, or a tendency to slide out of other slings.

This is a loop sling. It hangs on a Human Care 2-, 3-, or 4-point hanger bar, not on an E-clip or mushroom fastener. If you need a high-back sit-on sling for pain, see the Human Care Comfort Sling High Soft. If the transfer is a horizontal turn in bed, see the Human Care Positioning Sling.

Who this sling is for

Human Care designed this sling for a person with good head control who needs a slightly reclined sit and a narrow opening under the thighs. The leg parts fold over each other, or they can sit between the legs. Arms may rest inside or outside the sling. An optional Human Care waist belt (Velcro 25145 or buckle 25146) can be added. The user must have good head control. This is not a sit-to-stand sling.

  • Single-leg or double amputation
  • Hip problems, or a person who slides out of a standard divided-leg sling
  • Bed, chair, and floor transfers on a Human Care loop bar

Sizing

Human Care sizes this sling by three body measures, A, B, and C, not by a printed weight band per size. Confirm the size with a clinician or our staff before first use. Labels are colour coded.

Attachment and compatible lifts

The Amputee Sling is a loop sling. Human Care names hanger bars 57551, 55764 (2- or 3-point quick release), and 55619 (4-point on the Altair or Roomer S leg hook). It does not use E-clips.

On our floor it belongs on a Human Care motor hanging from the Humancare Lena or the Humancare FlexiRail, with a matching loop hanger bar. The working load of the finished system is the lowest rating among the frame, motor, bar, and sling. Shop other loop styles in divided-leg slings. Do not put this sling on a Handicare ceiling-lift carry bar or on an Invacare Reliant without Human Care saying so.

Human Care Amputee Sling specifications

These figures are from Human Care product sheet 99027 Rev6. The specification tab holds the stored values.

Maximum user weight is 300 kg / 660 lb on every size. Polyester 25040 is the low-friction fabric for most dry transfers. Polyester net 25140 is the showering and bathing fabric. Human Care says only the net fabric is for showering. The sling is a medium-back, divided-leg, four-point loop design. An optional Human Care waist belt is sold separately.

Care and laundering

Human Care prints the care instructions on the sling label and asks for a hospital-grade laundry bag. The Rev6 sheet shows machine wash, no bleach, and no dry clean. Follow the label on the sling you receive. Inspect the webbing and seams after every wash.

Delivery in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team can deliver this sling across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, on its own or with a patient-lift setup. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather see a sling first. For a scheduled drop-off or a fitting, call (905) 451-7743 and we will book the next date that works.

This is a small carton. The Canada-wide free ground-shipping offer on smaller goods can apply when it ships without a lift. If it travels with a patient lift, the lift is oversized and White-Glove Delivery is described on the shipping policy. Any charge is confirmed on your order.

Warranty

When something on the sling needs work, you call the shop that sold it, not a US parts desk. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.

Human Care manufacturer warranty

Human Care's current Amputee product sheet does not print a simple year-count warranty. Ask us for the warranty that ships with your order. We handle the claim with you.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an E-clip sling?

No. Human Care's Amputee Sling is a loop sling. E-clip attachments belong on the Full Body E-clip family, which uses mushroom fasteners.

What is the safe working load?

Human Care prints 300 kg / 660 lb on every size on sheet 99027 Rev6. The finished lift is limited by the lowest rating among the frame, motor, bar, and sling.

Which size should I order?

Use Human Care's A, B, and C measures on the chart above. There is no manufacturer weight band per size. Confirm the size with a clinician or our staff before first use.

Can I use it in the shower?

Human Care says only the polyester net (25140) is for showering. Polyester 25040 is the dry-transfer fabric.

Does it fit a Handicare ceiling lift?

Human Care names its own hanger bars for this sling. We fit it on a Human Care motor on the Lena or FlexiRail. We do not treat a Handicare C-series carry bar as an approved pairing.

Does a waist belt come with it?

No. Human Care lists waist belt 25145 (Velcro) and 25146 (buckle) as optional accessories. We sell the Velcro belt on its own page.

How do I wash it?

Follow the sling label. Human Care asks for a hospital-grade laundry bag and shows no bleach and no dry clean on the product sheet.

Does funding cover a sling in Ontario?

Slings follow the funding path of the lift they are used with. Call (905) 451-7743 and we will check the lift and the sling together before anyone starts paperwork.
