Description
The ErgoSafe ErgoSeat is a 2-piece seating device for repositioning a person in a chair and for preparing a sit-to-stand. Savaria Patient Care lists it as ErgoSafe ErgoSeat. You buckle the stack to the seat, sit the person on it, and they can move sideways or in a circle without taking the seat off. Westin Healthcare quotes it and delivers it across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area.
This is not a one-way glide. If the job is a stay-on mat that slides backward only, that is a different article. This is not SitWalk, which is a strap you put under the thighs and take off. This is not an in-bed slide sheet. If the work is turning or moving someone in bed, start with the EasySlide and WendyLett sheets we already stock. This is not a pressure-relief wheelchair cushion. ErgoSeat is the named 5200 / 230400 seat aid: two pieces, shiny faces together, strap and buckle, omni-directional.
Who it is for
ErgoSeat is for a person who needs to change position in a chair or wheelchair while remaining seated, or who needs a low-friction seat while they get ready to stand. The stack stays on the chair. One caregiver can help once they have practised the move. Two caregivers can share the sides when the person needs more help.
- Homes and care sites that reposition in a wheelchair, armchair, or similar seat
- A person who can sit on a strapped seat aid and move laterally or in a circle
- Sit-to-stand preparation when a low-friction seat is the right first step
- Sites that want a named ErgoSafe / Handicare article with a printed size
What you get
You get one ErgoSeat, article 230400, model 5200. It is a 2-piece seat 22.5 x 21.5 in (57 x 54.5 cm) with an adjustable strap and a buckle. Nothing else ships in the carton. EasyBelt, ReTurn, and the unbranded one-way glides we already sell stay on their own cards.
Place the ErgoSeat with the shiny sides together and the softer sides to the outside. Secure it to the chair or seat with the strap and buckle. The person sits on the stack. They can move laterally, in a circular motion, or shift forward to prepare to stand. Check the fabric, seams, strap, and buckle for wear before every use. When you use it for the first time, practise with a fellow caregiver until you are comfortable with the product.
If the person will sit on it for an extended period, check their skin on a regular schedule. If they have a pressure ulcer, or are at risk of one, ask a registered occupational or physical therapist before you use ErgoSeat for that person.
Machine-wash at 80 C / 170 F. Hang to dry, or tumble dry on low heat at 40 C / 104 F. Inspect the seat after every wash. Discard it if the fabric, seams, strap, or buckle show wear.

Which chairs this fits
ErgoSeat is made for a chair or wheelchair seat. The instructions say the strap and buckle secure it to most seats or chairs. It is not a lift sling and does not attach to a carry bar. It is not an in-bed sheet. It is not a one-way glide. It is not a pressure-relief wheelchair cushion.
If the person can stand and step with help after they are repositioned, look at the Handicare ReTurn, the QuickMove sit-to-stand aid, or the Handicare MiniLift. If the work is in bed, stay with EasySlide or WendyLett. We already sell unbranded one-way glides (11435 to 11439) for a stay-on one-direction seated job. Ask us which aid to quote. Those stay on their own listings.
Service, repairs, and warranty
When a seat aid wears out, you call the shop that sold it. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department.
ErgoSafe ErgoSeat warranty
The current instructions do not print a warranty year count. Inspect the seat, straps, and buckle before every use and after every wash. Replace it when the fabric, seams, strap, or buckle show wear. We handle the claim with you. Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.
Frequently asked questions
What is the ErgoSafe ErgoSeat?
It is a 2-piece seating device. You buckle it to a chair or wheelchair. The person sits on it and can move sideways or in a circle, or shift to prepare to stand.
What article can I quote?
One live Savaria code: 230400, model 5200, 22.5 x 21.5 in (57 x 54.5 cm), two pieces. This listing is that article only.
What is the safe working load?
The current instructions do not print a safe working load. Ask us and we will confirm the number on the article you receive. Do not guess a kilogram or pound figure from a different ErgoSafe product.
How do I put it on a chair?
Place the two pieces with the shiny sides together and the softer sides to the outside. Secure the stack to the chair or seat with the strap and buckle. Check for wear first. Practise with a fellow caregiver before you use it with the person.
How is this different from a one-way glide?
A one-way glide slides backward and resists sliding forward. ErgoSeat is omni-directional. The person can move laterally or in a circle. They are different articles.
How is this different from SitWalk?
SitWalk is a strap you place under the thighs, pull, and remove. ErgoSeat stays buckled to the chair. Keep them on separate cards.
Can the person stay sitting on it?
Yes. The stack is strapped to the chair. If they sit on it for an extended period, check their skin on a regular schedule. Ask an occupational or physical therapist first if they have, or are at risk of, a pressure ulcer.
Does it help with sit-to-stand?
The manufacturer names sit-to-stand preparation as one of the jobs. The low-friction faces let the person shift on the seat before they stand. A sit-to-stand aid such as the Handicare ReTurn is a separate product if they then need help to rise.
Is this a pressure-relief wheelchair cushion?
No. It is a seated-positioning and transfer aid. If the person needs a therapeutic seating cushion for pressure, ask us for that card. Do not treat ErgoSeat as a substitute.
How do I wash it?
Machine-wash at 80 C / 170 F. Hang to dry, or tumble dry on low heat at 40 C / 104 F. Inspect it after every wash.
How fast can a purchased ErgoSeat be delivered in the GTA?
This is a smaller good. Ask us for the next ship date. Call (905) 451-7743. Same-day delivery belongs to the rental service for lifts and beds, not automatically to a purchased seat aid.
