Description
The Travel Buggy City 2 Plus is a folding lithium power chair from the Canadian manufacturer Travel Buggy. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The person drives with the joystick. The frame front-folds like a lawn chair. The rear wheels pull off so the heaviest piece Travel Buggy prints is 38 lb.
Travel Buggy's current Canadian card lists a 400 lb weight capacity, a 25 km (15.5 mile) range on the two 24V 6Ah packs, and a 6 km/h (3.7 mph) top speed. Each pack is printed at 144 Wh and marked Airline Approved Battery. The compare table now also prints 65 lb with the batteries on. If you want a lighter carbon cross-fold instead of this heavy-capacity fold, start with the Aerolux 2C.
Who this chair is for
This chair is for a person who wants a folding power chair with Travel Buggy's 400 lb rating, a 19.5 to 23 inch space between the armrests, and a battery Travel Buggy prints as Airline Approved Battery. Families usually call us when a 300 lb travel chair is too tight, or when they need the chair to fold into a car and still have a high back that reclines.
If you want a 33 lb carbon frame and a 12 inch folded width, see the Aerolux 2C. If you want loading wheels on a 49 lb folder, see the Grand Tourer. The City 2 Plus is a folding power chair, not a caregiver transport chair.
- Travel Buggy 400 lb rating and 25 km printed range
- Front-fold plus quick-release rear wheels
- Two 24V 6Ah lithium packs, 144 Wh each, Airline Approved Battery
Design and build
The frame is Travel Buggy's heavy-capacity folder with 7 inch front wheels and 12 inch rear wheels. Dual 250 W brushless motors sit in the rear hubs. Travel Buggy prints a 26 inch turning radius, a 12 degree incline, and a 19.5 inch seat-to-floor height. Electromagnetic brakes and a freewheel mode are in the owner manual. The back reclines to 115 degrees. The footrest has three extension positions. Armrest spacers widen the seat to 23 inches. A cup holder and an under-seat bag come with the chair.
Fold it from the front, like a lawn chair, after you release the seat lock. Travel Buggy prints folded size 32 by 23 by 13 inches, or pull the rear wheels and load three pieces. The owner manual says not to use the chair as a seat in a moving vehicle.
Travel Buggy City 2 Plus specifications
These figures are from Travel Buggy's current Canadian City 2 Plus card and the compare-models table. The specification tab holds the stored values. That card lists 400 lb, 25 km (15.5 mi), 6 km/h (3.7 mph), 12 degrees, 26 inch turn, 60 lb net, 44 by 23 by 40 inches open, 32 by 23 by 13 inches folded, 17.5 by 19 inch seat, 20.5 inch back, 3 inch cushion, and Li-Ion 24 V / 6 Ah. The compare table also prints 65 lb with the batteries on.
Do not mix these numbers with the Aerolux 2C. That chair is a 33 lb carbon cross-fold with a 20 km single-battery range and a 350 lb Canadian card rating. Do not mix them with the older City 2 Plus owner-manual table (395 lb, 20 km, 66 lb). Copy follows the current card.
Warranty on Travel Buggy's policy page and in the owner manual for the original purchaser is 5 years on the main frame, 2 years on the motors, 1 year on the control system and battery, and 90 days on wear items. Parts ship from Canada. Labour is not included.

Funding help for a power wheelchair in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a power wheelchair when the need is long-term and the chair is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every chair qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.
