SYSTEMROMEDIC WENDYLETT SLIDING AND DRAW SHEETS

(0 review)

SystemRoMedic WendyLett sliding and draw sheets reposition a person in bed without a manual lift. A WendyLett base sliding sheet stays on the mattress, and a WendyLett2Way or WendyLett4Way draw sheet slides on top of it. The 2Way sheet moves a person sideways; the 4Way sheet also moves them up or down the bed.

Which sheet do I need? Pick the 2Way drawsheet for sideways repositioning, the 4Way for sideways plus up and down the bed, and a tailored base sliding sheet sized to the bed width. Westin Healthcare will match them to the bed if you tell us its width.

Description

SystemRoMedic WendyLett sliding and draw sheets let one or two caregivers reposition a person in bed without lifting them by hand. Westin Healthcare supplies them across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area, and will size them to the bed before you order.

WendyLett is a two-layer system. A WendyLett base sliding sheet stays on the mattress. A WendyLett2Way or WendyLett4Way draw sheet goes on top, with the person on it. The two surfaces slide against each other, so the person moves and the mattress does not fight you.

What WendyLett is for, and what it is not for

WendyLett is for repositioning a person in bed. It is not a transfer aid and it is not designed to move someone from the bed onto a stretcher, a shower trolley or an operating table. If you need to move a person between two surfaces, that is a different product and a different technique, and using a repositioning sheet for it risks injury to the person and to the caregiver.

Ask us about the SystemRoMedic EasyGlide sliding board or the SystemRoMedic OneWaySlide if the task is a transfer rather than repositioning.

Choosing between 2Way and 4Way

This is the decision the whole range turns on, and it is worth getting right before you order.

  • WendyLett2Way repositions a person sideways only. The manufacturer states it is used for lateral repositioning.
  • WendyLett4Way repositions a person sideways and also higher up or lower down the bed. It carries an anti-friction material on its underside and the manufacturer developed it mainly for heavier users.

If the daily task is sliding someone who has slipped down the bed back up towards the pillows, the 2Way sheet will not do it and the 4Way sheet will. If the daily task is turning someone for pressure care or personal care, either works.

The sheets are colour coded so the direction is visible at the bedside. The base sliding sheet is grey with white stripes and the stripes show the sliding direction. The 2Way draw sheet is white with grey stripes and the stripes show the pull direction. The 4Way draw sheet is grey checked with the anti-friction layer underneath.

The range

Use the selector to pick the sheet and size on your quote. Nine articles are listed:

  • WendyLett2Way draw sheets: 90 x 180 cm (1620) and 100 x 200 cm (1631)
  • WendyLett4Way draw sheets: 140 x 200 cm (1637) and 200 x 200 cm (1647)
  • WendyLett4Way inco with handles, 140 x 120 cm (1649), for use where an incontinence layer is needed
  • WendyLett base sliding sheets, tailored with an elastic string: 200 x 105 cm for a 105 cm bed (1651), 200 x 120 cm for a 120 cm bed (1661), and 200 x 140 cm for a 140 cm bed (1671)
  • WendyLean pillowcase with handles, 50 x 60 cm (1680)

The base sliding sheets are sized by the bed they fit, not by the person, so tell us the mattress width and we will confirm the right one. A draw sheet on its own will not slide properly without a base sheet under it.

WendyLett specifications

These figures are from the manufacturer user manual for WendyLett2Way and WendyLett4Way. Stay inside the rated load for the article you order.

The manufacturer does not print a safe working load for the three tailored base sliding sheets, so none is stated here. If the person is near the rated load of the draw sheet you are considering, call (905) 451-7743 and we will confirm the right article with Savaria before you order.

Laundering and infection control

WendyLett sheets wash at 90 degrees C (194 degrees F), which is what lets a facility put them through a normal healthcare laundry cycle and reuse them between residents. Do not use a rinsing agent, because it coats the fibres and reduces the slide. Hang dry, or tumble dry on low heat, to get the most life out of the material.

Inspect after every wash. Check that the seams are intact and the fabric is not worn, faded or thinning. A sheet that has lost its slide is a sheet that invites a manual lift, so replace it rather than working around it.

Delivery and setup in Brampton and the GTA

Westin's own team delivers across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. We have three stores in the Brampton and Toronto area if you would rather handle a sheet before you commit to a size. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the contact page and tell us the bed width and the task, and we will put the right combination on the quote.

Sliding sheets ship as ordinary goods. Shipping terms are described on the shipping policy page, and any charge is confirmed on your order.

Service and warranty

Sheets are consumable textiles and wear out with use, so plan on replacing them rather than repairing them. Westin Healthcare has a service and repairs department for the lifts and beds they work alongside. Ask us for the Savaria terms that ship with your order.

Frequently asked questions

How much weight can a WendyLett sheet take?

300 kg (660 lb) on articles 1620, 1631, 1637 and 1647, and 200 kg (440 lb) on the 1649 inco sheet with handles. The manufacturer does not print a rating for the three tailored base sliding sheets, so we will confirm that with Savaria if you need it.

What is the difference between WendyLett2Way and WendyLett4Way?

Direction. The 2Way sheet repositions a person sideways only. The 4Way sheet repositions sideways and also up or down the bed, and it has an anti-friction layer underneath. If you need to slide someone back up towards the pillows, you need the 4Way.

Do I need both a sliding sheet and a draw sheet?

Yes. The system works because two surfaces slide against each other. The base WendyLett sliding sheet stays on the mattress and the 2Way or 4Way draw sheet goes on top. A draw sheet used on its own will not slide as intended.

Can I use WendyLett to move someone onto a stretcher?

No. WendyLett is for repositioning in bed. Moving a person between two surfaces is a different task that needs a transfer product, and using the wrong aid for it risks injury. Ask us and we will point you to the right one.

What temperature do WendyLett sheets wash at?

90 degrees C (194 degrees F). Do not use a rinsing agent, and hang dry or tumble dry on low heat. Inspect the seams and the fabric after every wash.

Do you leave the sheets under the person?

The base sliding sheet stays on the mattress as part of the bed make-up. Follow the manufacturer manual for how the draw sheet is used and left, and read it before first use; we include it with the order.

How do I know which base sheet fits the bed?

The tailored base sheets are sized by bed width: 200 x 105 cm for a 105 cm bed, 200 x 120 cm for a 120 cm bed, and 200 x 140 cm for a 140 cm bed. Send us the mattress width and we will confirm it.

What is the WendyLean pillowcase for?

WendyLean (1680) is a 50 x 60 cm pillowcase with handles, used to reposition the head and shoulders. It is ordered on the same selector as the sheets.
