Description

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat is Drive Medical's 1239RD, the red 2-wheel walker that carries a padded seat and backrest. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. This is the Drive SKU that puts a seat on a two-wheel walker. It is not a four-wheel rollator.

Drive lists a 14.3 lb (6.5 kg) frame, a 136 kg (300 lb) weight capacity, a 24 inch (61 cm) overall width, and handles from 30.5 to 37.8 inches (77.5 to 96 cm). The seat is 15.875 inches wide by 8 inches deep. Front wheels are 5 inch swivel. Rear leg tips act as brakes when you press down.

Who this walker is for

This walker is for an adult who wants a 2 wheel walker with seat, who will rest on the pad between short indoor walks, and who does not need a four-wheel rollator with loop brakes. Families usually call us when a folding two-button walker has no place to sit, and a Nitro-style rollator still feels like more than the person will use.

If you want a two-button folding walker without a seat, start with the Drive Deluxe Folding Walker 10210. If you want a Drive rollator with hand brakes and a larger seat, see the Drive Nitro 3-Wheel Rollator. This 1239RD is not the Drive 10243 flip-up seat walker.

  • Padded seat 15.875 by 8 inches and a backrest
  • 5 inch front swivel wheels; rear tips work as brakes
  • 136 kg (300 lb) Drive rating on a 14.3 lb (6.5 kg) frame

Fit and height

Drive prints handle height 30.5 to 37.8 inches (77.5 to 96 cm) for 1239RD. That sits a little lower at the bottom than deluxe adult 32 to 39 inches and does not reach as high at the top.

To choose a walker height, stand in everyday shoes with arms relaxed. The grips should sit at the wrist crease. The seat is a rest stop, not a transport chair. Drive does not print a seat-to-floor number on the current 1239RD sheet, so we do not invent one.

Wheels, brakes, and folding

Large 5 inch (13 cm) swivel wheels sit on the front. Rear leg tips act as brakes when you press down. There are no cable loop brakes. Drive says the frame folds quickly when it is not in use. Contoured handles are the grip spec on the sheet.

This is still a walker layout: two wheels in front, tips in back. You do not get the four-wheel rollator brake-and-sit pattern. Sit only after the rear tips are planted and the walker is stopped.

Weight and portability

Drive lists 14.3 lb (6.5 kg) and 24 inches (61 cm) wide. That is heavier than the 5.5 to 8 lb two-button frames because of the seat and backrest, and it is still lighter than most four-wheel rollators on our floor. Drive does not print a folded width. The frame folds for a car trunk or a closet.

Drive Two Wheeled Walker with Seat specifications

These figures are for Drive 1239RD, the red two-wheeled walker with seat. The specification tab holds the stored values. Drive's current sheet lists a 15.875 by 8 inch seat, handle height 30.5 to 37.8 inches, a 136 kg (300 lb) capacity, a 24 inch overall width, a 14.3 lb unit weight, and a 16.5 lb carton.

Do not mix these numbers with a deluxe two-button walker (no seat, 350 lb, 5.5 to 7.5 lb) or with a Nitro rollator (three wheels, loop brakes, different seat). They are separate Drive products.

Warranty for the original purchaser is Drive's Limited Lifetime term: defects in materials and workmanship for the life of that purchaser. It does not cover misuse, negligence, or normal wear, and it does not extend to rubber accessories, casters, and grips.

Walker with seat or 4-wheel rollator

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat is a 2-wheel walker: swivel wheels in front, rear tips as brakes, padded seat for a rest. A four-wheel rollator adds a pair of rear wheels, loop hand brakes, and usually a larger seat. Pick 1239RD when you want a walker gait plus a small seat. Pick the Drive Nitro 3-Wheel Rollator when you want to roll continuously with hand brakes. The deluxe 10210 is the lighter two-button walker with no seat.

Funding help for a walker or rollator in Ontario

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) can fund 75% of the cost of a walker or rollator when the need is long-term and the aid is prescribed through an assessment by an ADP-registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist, and some income-support programs cover the full cost. Not every model qualifies, so talk to us before you buy. March of Dimes Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and community programs can also help. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through.

Ask us if an extended warranty is offered for your order.

Frequently asked questions

What Is the Difference Between a Walker and a Rollator?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat is a 2-wheel walker with a small padded seat. A rollator has three or four wheels and hand brakes. Drive files 1239RD under specialty walkers, not rollators. Choose this walker when you still want a walker gait and a place to rest. Choose a rollator when you will roll continuously and need loop brakes.

How Do I Choose a Walker Height?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat adjusts from 30.5 to 37.8 inches (77.5 to 96 cm). Stand in everyday shoes, relax the arms, and set the grips at the wrist crease. The seat is for resting after you stop, not for setting handle height.

Does This Walker Have a Seat?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat has a padded seat 15.875 inches wide by 8 inches deep and a backrest. Sit only after the walker is stopped and the rear tips are planted.

How Do the Rear Leg Tips Work as Brakes?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat uses the rear leg tips as brakes when you press down. It does not have cable loop hand brakes. That is the main difference from a rollator brake.

Will This Walker Fold Into a Car Trunk?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat folds when it is not in use. Drive lists 14.3 lb (6.5 kg) and does not print a folded width. We can show you the fold at delivery. It is not approved as a seat inside a moving vehicle.

What Is the Weight Capacity of This Walker?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat is rated 136 kg (300 lb) on Drive's current sheet. That is lower than the 350 lb two-button frames. Stay at or under 300 lb, including what you carry.

Is This a 2-Wheel Walker or a Rollator?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat is a 2-wheel walker. Two swivel wheels in front, rear tips, padded seat. It is not a 3-wheel or 4-wheel rollator.

What Is the Warranty on This Drive Walker?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat carries Drive's Limited Lifetime term for the original purchaser. Wear items such as casters, grips, and rubber accessories sit outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.

Can Funding Help With a Walker in Ontario?

Some Ontario routes can help with mobility equipment. Eligibility depends on the person's situation and assessment. Call (905) 451-7743 or use the funding page before you buy.

What Colour Is the 1239RD?

The Drive two wheeled walker with seat 1239RD is red on Drive's current card. Drive does not list another colour on that card.
