Description
The Drive Bariatric Transfer Bench is Drive item 12025KD-1, a 500 lb (227 kg) bath transfer bench that bridges a tub wall. Westin Healthcare sells it and delivers it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. The back, legs, and arm assemble without tools. The bench is reversible for a left or right tub.
Drive rates 12025KD-1 at 500 lb (227 kg). The seat sits 26.5 in by 16.5 in (67 cm by 42 cm). Legs use Dual Column clicks in 1/2 in increments and sit on large locking suction cups. Drive's current sheet does not print a height range. Authorized reprints print 18.5 in to 23.5 in (47 cm to 60 cm).
Who this transfer bench is for
This bariatric transfer bench is for a person who stays at or under the 500 lb rating and who needs to sit outside the tub and slide in, rather than step over the wall. Families usually call us when a standard 400 lb bench is not enough, or when they want the wider 26.5 in seat.
If 400 lb is enough and you want a plastic bench without the bariatric frame, start with the Drive Transfer Tub Bench. If you want a cushioned seat, see the Drive Padded Transfer Bench.
- A seated slide over the tub wall, 500 lb rating
- Reversible back and arm for a left or right tub
- Tool-free setup of the back, legs, and arm
Seat height and fit
Sit on the bench with your feet flat. Your hips and knees should sit at a comfortable bend. Drive prints Dual Column clicks in 1/2 in increments on 12025KD-1. Authorized reprints print 18.5 in to 23.5 in (47 cm to 60 cm). Match every leg to the same hole before you sit.
The seat is 26.5 in wide by 16.5 in deep (67 cm by 42 cm). Drive does not print a width between arms on this sheet. Come into a Brampton or Toronto store if you want to sit on the bench before you order.
Frame, legs, and assembly
Drive prints an A-frame for extra stability, a euro-style clip, and no exposed hardware. Legs use Dual Column extension and large locking suction cups. The bench is reversible so the back and arm can face either side of the tub.
Assembly is tool-free: back, legs, and arm. Drive prints that the plastic parts use recycled materials. We can put it together at delivery.
Drive Bariatric Transfer Bench specifications
These figures are for Drive 12025KD-1 as printed on the current one-pager. The specification tab holds the stored values. Use 26.5 in by 16.5 in and 500 lb, not the stored 26.25 in seat width.
Capacity 500 lb (227 kg). Seat 26.5 in by 16.5 in (67 cm by 42 cm). Height clicks 1/2 in. Unit weight 14 lb (6.4 kg). Carton 27 lb. Warranty for a Canadian purchaser follows Drive's printed term: limited lifetime.
Which transfer bench fits this bathroom
A shower chair sits inside the tub or the stall. A transfer bench bridges the tub wall so the person sits outside and slides in. A padded bench adds a cushion. A sliding bench moves the seat along the frame. A bariatric bench uses the 500 lb rating.
12025KD-1 is the 500 lb Drive transfer bench. Stay on it when the person needs that rating and the 26.5 in seat. Use the 12011KD-1 plastic bench at 400 lb if the bariatric frame is more than you need. Use the RTL12075 sliding bench if the person wants the seat to roll along the frame.
Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
