Description
The Drive toilet safety frame, item 12001-4, is Drive Medical's toilet-attached aluminum frame with plastic armrests. Westin Healthcare sells it, delivers it, and can fit it for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Drive prints a 300 lb (136 kg) weight limit and a powder-coated aluminum bracket that attaches the frame to the toilet.
This is not Drive RTL12000 (padded arms, 19 to 23.50 inches between arms) and not Drive RTL12087 (the compact toilet safety rail). Drive 12001-4 is the plastic-arm frame. Drive's current sheet does not print a 12008 SKU on this card.
How this frame mounts
Drive prints that a powder-coated aluminum bracket easily attaches the frame to the toilet and that the bracket secures the frame in place. Arms are height-adjustable in 1 inch increments and width-adjustable in two positions. Drive does not print a numeric height range on the 12001-4 sheet. We set the snap buttons at delivery and show you they are locked before we leave.
This frame is not a wall grab bar. Drive does not tell you to find studs or pick wall anchors. Follow the sheet in the carton. Do not force a bracket that does not line up with the seat hardware. Drive names item 12001BR-1 as the replacement bracket.

Toilet-attached frame or floor rails
A toilet-attached frame like Drive 12001-4 uses a bracket on the toilet. Floor rails such as the AquaSense Adjustable Toilet Safety Rails stand on the floor around the bowl and do not bolt to the toilet. A free-standing rail such as the Drive Free-Standing Toilet Safety Rail also stands around the toilet and uses wing nuts. If you want the same Drive bracket style with padded arms, see the Drive Toilet Safety Frame with Padded Arms (RTL12000).
Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Frequently asked questions
How Do You Install a Toilet Safety Frame?
The Drive toilet safety frame 12001-4 uses a powder-coated aluminum bracket that Drive says attaches the frame to the toilet and holds it in place. We set that bracket and the snap buttons at delivery in Brampton and the GTA. If you pick it up, follow the sheet in the carton and do not force a bracket that does not line up.
Do Toilet Safety Rails Need Wall Studs?
The Drive toilet safety frame 12001-4 is not a wall grab bar. Drive does not print stud or wall-anchor steps for this frame. The printed mount is the toilet bracket.
How High Should Toilet Safety Rails Be?
Drive prints that the 12001-4 arms adjust in 1 inch increments and does not print a numeric height band on the current sheet. We set the snap buttons with you at delivery and check they are locked.
What Is the Difference Between a Toilet Frame and Floor Rails?
The Drive toilet safety frame 12001-4 bolts to the toilet with a bracket. Floor rails such as the AquaSense 770-665 stand on the floor around the bowl. A free-standing Drive rail stands around the toilet and does not use the 12001-4 bracket.
Toilet Safety Frame or Raised Toilet Seat: Which Do I Need?
The Drive toilet safety frame 12001-4 adds arms beside the existing seat. It does not raise the seat. A raised toilet seat raises the bowl height. Some households use both. We will look at the toilet with you before you order both.
What Is the Weight Capacity?
Drive lists 300 lb (136 kg) on the 12001-4 sheet. Stay at or under that rating.
Is This the Same as Drive RTL12000?
No. Item 12001-4 is the plastic-arm Drive toilet safety frame. Drive RTL12000 is the padded-arm frame at 19 to 23.50 inches between arms. Westin sells both as separate products.
What Is the Warranty?
Drive prints Limited Lifetime on the 12001-4 card. Wear items such as grips sit outside that term. Westin Healthcare processes the claim.
