Description
The Drive bariatric folding commode is Drive Medical's 11117N-1 chair for homes in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. It folds, and Drive rates it at 650 lb (295 kg).
This is the folding bariatric commode chair. The extra-wide drop-arm sister is the Drive 11135-1 at 1000 lb (454 kg). The sitting surface on 11117N-1 stays a 13.75 by 16.5 in (35 by 42 cm) deep seat. The extra capacity is in the frame and the 24 in (61 cm) space between the arms.
Who this commode is for
This commode chair is for a person who wants a folding bedside commode, stays at or under Drive's 650 lb rating, and needs the wider arm span. Families here usually call when a standard 350 lb folding chair is not the fit and the chair still has to fold.
Drive prints a removable tool-free back, plastic armrests, and a 12 qt bucket with handle, cover, and splash shield. Westin does not give medical advice.
- Folds for storage and transport
- 650 lb (295 kg) steel frame
- 12 qt (11.4 L) pail with handle, cover, and splash shield
Fold, seat, and pail
The frame is powder-coated welded steel. Drive prints tool-free assembly in three steps, a 16.5 in (42 cm) deep snap-on seat with lid, and a removable tool-free back. Seat height runs 15.5 to 22 in (39 to 56 cm). Drive prints 29.25 in (74 cm) between the legs. Drive's compare chart prints 24 in (61 cm) between the arms and 31.75 in (81 cm) outside.
The kit is exact on this SKU: 12 qt (11.4 L) bucket, carry handle, cover, and splash shield. Drive's knowledge-base splash-guard note says the chair can sit as a stand-alone commode or over an existing toilet. Over the toilet, take the bucket out and use the splash shield in its place.

Drop-arm, folding, or bariatric commode
A bariatric commode chair is the heavier Drive frame. 11117N-1 folds and stays at 650 lb. 11135-1 does not fold, drops an arm, and goes to 1000 lb with a 23.25 in (59 cm) wide seat. A standard folding commode chair such as the Drive 11148N-4 is the 350 lb 3-in-1. A standard drop-arm commode chair such as the Drive 11125KD-1 is the 300 lb side-transfer chair.
Stay on 11117N-1 if 650 lb and a fold are the fit. Step to 11135-1 if the person needs the extra-wide seat and the drop arm.
Funding help for bathroom safety equipment in Ontario
Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) does not fund bathroom safety equipment, so plan around other routes. Funding that may help instead: March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), extended health plans, and community programs. Westin Healthcare's staff work with these programs every week and will point you to the right route for your situation. Visit our funding page or call (905) 451-7743 to talk it through before you buy.
